On the afternoon of June 19, the Hanoi Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee held a conference to meet with representatives of press agencies, commend outstanding journalists in the capital; award prizes for the Writing Contest on advanced models, good people, good deeds in 2025 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
Comrade Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi attended and delivered a speech at the conference.
At the conference, delegates watched a report on the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press; listened to Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Truong Viet Dung inform about the capital's socio -economic situation in the first 6 months of 2025.
Speaking at the conference, former Politburo member and former Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi said that Hanoi is a major center of journalism, so this is both an advantage and a challenge.
The relationship between leaders and the press, between the press and the people is a direct, close and indispensable relationship in social life.
As someone who has been involved in journalism as a reader, writer and leader, comrade Pham Quang Nghi suggested that Hanoi city - the major center of the country's journalism - should pay more attention to information work, providing timely and accurate information to the press; at the same time, he hoped that press agencies would continue to accompany and share with the city in solving current difficulties and challenges.
General Director of the Government Electronic Information Portal Nguyen Hong Sam congratulated Hanoi on its outstanding achievements in 2024 and 2025; at the same time, he suggested that in the coming time, when the capital implements a two-level local government and prepares to organize Party Congresses at all levels, Hanoi needs to promote communication to the people through the press system.
The city needs to proactively inform people about new policies and guidelines early through the official press system and social networks.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Sam also suggested publicizing the address and name of the person handling specific administrative procedures so that people can access public services more quickly, accurately and conveniently.
Congratulating the team of journalists, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that the Vietnamese revolutionary press has gone through 100 years of formation and development, always accompanying the nation through periods of struggle, construction and defense of the Fatherland.
The glorious history of journalism is also a symbol of courage, ideals and revolutionary beliefs.
During the renovation period, the press continues to affirm its important role in bringing the Party's guidelines and State policies to the people; reflecting practical life, promoting the good and the beautiful; and at the same time being a vanguard force in the fight against negativity and refuting false arguments.
Especially in difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic or natural disasters, the press is always on the front lines, contributing to maintaining social trust.
The Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee respectfully acknowledged and highly appreciated the practical, timely and responsible contributions of press agencies in promoting the outstanding achievements of the Capital.
The press has actively accompanied Hanoi in its comprehensive development: sustainable economic growth, increasingly improved people's lives, stable politics, solid security and defense, and the image of the capital increasingly affirmed at home and abroad.
The Secretary of the City Party Committee suggested that in the coming time, the press should continue to promote the spirit of innovation, responsibility and creativity, perform well the role of communication, orienting public opinion; and be a bridge to bring major policies of the Central Government and the city to the people.
The press needs to increase the coverage of good models, good practices, and good deeds; at the same time, actively contribute to the successful organization of the 18th Hanoi Party Congress, towards the new development term of the Capital in the period of deep integration.
At the conference, Hanoi City awarded Certificates of Merit in recognition of outstanding achievements in journalism activities contributing positively to the construction and development of the Capital to 20 collectives and 30 individuals./.
