OceanBank officially changed its name from today

According to Decision No. 741 of the Banking Inspection and Supervision Agency - State Bank, from December 18, 2024, Ocean Commercial One Member Limited Liability Bank (OceanBank) officially changed its name.

Accordingly, the new Vietnamese name of the bank is Vietnam Modern Bank Limited.

The English name was changed to Modern Bank of Vietnam Limited. The abbreviation is MBV.

The name change does not affect banking operations and ensures all rights and transactions of customers at Vietnam Modern Bank.

Modern Vietnam Bank - MBV, part of the MB Group ecosystem, includes 3 banks (MB, MBCambodia, MBV) and 6 member companies (MBS, MBCapital, MIC, MB Ageas, MBAMC, Mcredit).

Along with the name change, MBV Bank has completed its leadership structure with senior personnel when Mr. Vu Thanh Trung, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Members of MBV. Mr. Le Xuan Vu, Member of the Executive Board of MB, was appointed as a member of the Board of Members and General Director of MBV.

In addition, other members of the Board of Members, Board of Supervisors, and Board of Management of MBV have also just been completed, and are people with many years of experience in the finance and banking industry.

MBV was established in 1993, formerly known as Hai Hung Rural Bank, headquartered in Hai Duong City. In 2007, the bank converted to a Joint Stock Commercial Bank model with the name Ocean Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OceanBank), with a charter capital of 300 billion VND.

By 2012, OceanBank increased its charter capital to VND4,000 billion. In 2015, the bank converted to a one-member limited liability bank model with 100% state ownership according to Decision No. 663.

From October 17, 2024, OceanBank will complete the transfer to MB, with MB owning 100% of the charter capital.

After being transferred to MB and renamed, OceanBank - now Vietnam Modern Bank Limited (MBV) - still has its headquarters at 360 Kim Ma, Ba Dinh, Hanoi . In fact, this has been the headquarters of OceanBank since 2014.
