Female student of University of Technology buys house for mother before graduation day

Having successfully raised capital on Shark Tank with the scented candle brand Jaros Candle, Nguyen Hoan Trieu Vy, a student at the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), was able to buy a house for her mother before graduation.

In 2022, Trieu Vy and her sister successfully raised capital at Shark Tank with the scented candle brand Jaros Candle. Trieu Vy received capital contributions from Shark Lien, Shark Erik and Shark Hung Anh to develop the brand. Currently, Trieu Vy's scented candle brand still maintains good revenue. Before graduating from the chemical engineering major at the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), Trieu Vy bought a house for her mother.

Since the age of 6, Trieu Vy's mother took the girl and her younger sister to live at her maternal grandparents' house in Vinh Long City. When the business of the scented candle brand Jaros Candle developed, the 3 members decided to rent their own house because they did not want to affect their grandparents' living hours.

In January 2024, after more than 3 years of studying and doing business, Trieu Vy and her sister bought a house for their mother in Vinh Long City. The house is currently used as a residence and a place to process and produce scented candles. After graduating, Trieu Vy said she will spend all her time researching and developing the scented candle brand. In addition, the female student wants to learn more about business to be able to operate the brand more smoothly. "My advantage lies in being able to make products and have a talent for business. However, I have not been able to balance these two aspects for comprehensive development. In the coming time, I will try to learn how to manage and allocate time to balance product development and effective business strategy," Trieu Vy shared.

Before graduating, Trieu Vy also participated in several research projects, the most prominent of which was Deep Signature - anti-counterfeiting technology using Blockchain. For Trieu Vy, this was a special project because the research knowledge was not related to the major that the female student studied at university. However, under the training and guidance of Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Quan, Trieu Vy's team was able to go far and win prizes in a number of competitions such as: First prize in the International Innovator Award 2022; Third prize in the 2022 scientific innovation competition organized by VnExpress Newspaper. Trieu Vy said that she once thought that she was not passionate about business. At first, this girl simply thought that she wanted to make her own products and sell them to customers in need. However, when she had more experience, Trieu Vy realized that she was truly passionate about business.

I used to be a girl with low self-esteem because my academic performance was not outstanding and I was not talkative or smart. But thanks to perseverance and dedication, I have been able to gradually develop myself in a more positive direction,” Trieu Vy shared. Associate Professor - Dr. Nguyen Dinh Quan, lecturer at the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), commented: “Trieu Vy is a student who tends to like business and applying science and technology. She is not the type of student who follows the “school” of books. Trieu Vy is very dynamic, intelligent, agile and has the ambition of a startup (startup) that is committed.” Mr. Quan added: “I often "inspire" generations of students that scientific research is not only creative but also important is application. Therefore, the product does not necessarily have to be sophisticated but must meet the needs of society, solve the backlog that technology can overcome, even if it is simple. Only then will the product be strongly welcomed and bring core values. And Trieu Vy has done very well in this criterion.”
