During the launch of the book of portrait memoirs Huu Chau - The Golden Cradle of Storms on the morning of June 28 at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau "asked the wind to send a few words" to Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc - who was unable to attend due to his busy schedule with Thien Dang stage.

He shared: "Over the past 30 years, Mr. Loc is the one who has given wings to my career journey, helped me excel in each role, helped me love my job more, and have more confidence in the path ahead. He is the person I will never forget because he gave wings to have today."

The audience was deeply moved by this sharing. And not only Thanh Loc, Huu Chau also mentioned many other "benefactors" of his. They were his grandmother - producer Tho, "mother Ba" - artist Thanh Nga, his family, clan... as well as People's Artist Kim Cuong.

He said that it was when he attended the launch of People's Artist Kim Cuong's memoir 9 years ago that he was "asked" to write a memoir. But because he felt he didn't have much to say, he put it aside.

It was only 3 years ago, when reminded, that he thought that the book would not only revolve around him but also the famous family that he was lucky enough to come from, learn from, and love. So he accepted.

From there, he and author Thanh Thuy and poet Hanh Ngo sat down together and after a year, the work took shape. The book not only follows Huu Chau's journey, but also extends to his grandmother's time, from the time she was a couple to when she became a widow, from when the troupe was "at its peak" to when it was just a memory.

With his writing style of whispering and directly confronting pain and little joy, artist Huu Chau's portrait gradually emerges, not only "things everyone knows" but also the differences and secrets behind the velvet curtain.

Attending the show, alongside fans were Huu Chau's co-stars. Artist Huong Giang shared: "I was lucky to perform with Mr. Huu Chau for more than 30 years. When I heard that he published a book, I was very surprised because I didn't think the long artistic career of a great family could be summarized in a book."

Sharing memories with her senior, she added: "I learned a lot from Chau in acting, dialogue, and posing... With his extensive experience and strong inner strength, he is always a shining example for his juniors and students to follow. I am very happy to have acted with him all this time."

With tears in her eyes, artist Kim Huyen recalled: "When I first graduated, Mr. Chau took care of me for several years. I am very grateful to him for giving me a family in Saigon. For many years now, I have maintained a close relationship with my mother, sister Giao and his nieces and nephews. If I have today, it is also thanks to his first 'bricks', thanks to his teachings. Even after I had big roles, I still invited him to watch and give me advice."

As the 4th generation of the Thanh Minh Thanh Nga family, Gia Bao recalls: "Uncle Chau is a very important person in my career. He was the first person to ask for me to study at the theater and cinema school, he was also the one who paid the tuition, he was the one who checked every day to see if I went to school. It must be said that Gia Bao is loved by the audience because of Huu Chau. In my life, there are 2 very important grandfathers: 'good grandfather' Bao Quoc and 'evil grandfather' Huu Chau".

In recent years, besides the stage, Huu Chau has also participated in teaching and training many generations of young actors. Minh Du humorously shared: "I studied with him from late 2018 to early 2019. He rarely used a whip when teaching, but all props could be used for that purpose." He concluded: "Even though he scolded a lot, that was still what he trained us to have today."

With the success of the movie "Mat Biec" , Tran Phong shared: "Knowing that I am in my teacher's memory makes me very happy. When I didn't know how to go in my artistic path, he was the one who guided me and showed me the right path."

Le Loc also added that although she had the "artistic seeds" herself, it was teacher Huu Chau who "watered" and made it grow. She revealed that when she asked her father - artist Duy Phuong - to pursue art, he did not agree, and thanks to the "rescue ticket" of Meritorious Artist Huu Chau when she took the entrance exam to the school, she has a place on the stage today.
