First of all, rich and diverse propaganda work has been organized regularly. At the grassroots level, 100% of farmers' associations have integrated environmental protection content into regular activities. From the end of 2022 to now, all levels of the association have organized more than 1,400 propaganda sessions on environmental protection for more than 99,000 people. Topics focused on the Law on Environmental Protection, agricultural waste treatment techniques, limiting the use of chemical fertilizers and solutions to convert to sustainable agricultural production models. Propaganda is not only through conferences and leaflets but also through social networks, the association's Zalo group, short video clips posted on the provincial Farmers' Association's fanpage, helping to quickly spread the message "Green - Clean - Healthy Living".
In parallel, each year, the Provincial Farmers' Association organizes more than 120 training courses for grassroots association officials and farmer group leaders. Each class attracts 30-50 people, with lecturers who are environmental experts providing practical knowledge on classifying, collecting, and treating organic waste right at the household level, while also guiding the establishment of an improved biogas tank model, utilizing livestock waste to produce biogas. Every year, more than 63,000 farming households are mobilized to register for the title of good farming households in production and business associated with environmentally friendly production and protection. Thanks to that, many members have built biogas tanks at home, both solving waste and saving fuel costs.
The work of promoting the direct role of Farmers' Association members has been materialized through many practical activities. In the first 6 months of the year, 6,000 Farmers' Association members participated in cleaning up village roads and alleys, collecting more than 200 tons of household waste and discarded bottles and agricultural pesticide packaging. Nearly 15,000 native seedlings including acacia, eucalyptus, and mahogany were planted along streams and roadsides to residential areas, thereby contributing to greening barren hills. In particular, the Farmers' Association coordinated with the Youth Union to organize the "Green Sunday" program in Van Don special economic zone, attracting nearly 1,200 young people and members to remove water hyacinths and clean irrigation canals; this activity not only improves the aquatic environment but also enhances solidarity and community responsibility.
In addition, many pilot models have contributed to effective dissemination. In Van Don special economic zone, the model of "Self-management group on environmental protection" with 20 core farmer members has officially come into operation, closely monitoring the discharge of livestock households, coordinating with the authorities to promptly handle garbage accumulation points in front of residential areas. Or the model of "Green - clean - beautiful model garden" in Hoanh Bo ward, Quang La commune... has become a model when each member family renovated their own garden, installed an organic waste compost pit and a green vegetable garden, and shared experiences with neighboring households. From 2023 to now, Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province have built 73 models of environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
Not only stopping at donating labor, the Farmers' Association also mobilized resources to support members. The "Green Farmers" Fund received more than 200 million VND from businesses, benefactors and the association's fund interest, used to donate organic waste composting materials, green tree seeds, and biogas tanks to 150 disadvantaged households. Supporting composting equipment and waste collection tools has helped members increase their initiative and efficiency in waste treatment, minimizing environmental pollution at the source.
The initial results are very encouraging: 90% of members participate in environmental protection activities; 100% of branches and groups develop action plans for "Green - Clean - Healthy Living"; the rural environment in many places has clearly changed, village roads and alleys are brighter - greener - cleaner. Many households producing organic and bio-safe agriculture initially have an income 10-15% higher than traditional production, ensuring the health of consumers and sustainability for the land.
Propagating and promoting the role of Farmers' Association members in environmental protection has become a strategy put into practice, attracting a large number of farmers to participate and initially recording positive results in many areas, from cleaning up the landscape, reforesting bare hills, to environmentally friendly agricultural production. This success not only protects the living environment, but also contributes to improving the quality of life, creating momentum for sustainable socio -economic development in rural areas of Quang Ninh.
