Bac Ha farmers earn nearly 3 billion VND from early-ripening Ta Van plums

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Ha district, the harvest of early-ripening Ta Van plums in the area has ended, with an estimated output of 36.8 tons, with a selling price ranging from 60,000 to 100,000 VND/kg, earning people nearly 3 billion VND.

Along with purple plums, Ta Van plums ripen early and are harvested nearly 1 month before Tam Hoa plums . The harvest of Ta Van plums ripens early around mid-May, nearly 1 month earlier than Tam Hoa plums. This year, due to the prolonged cold air, temperate fruit trees in the area ripen 15-30 days later.

Currently, Bac Ha district has more than 20 hectares of early-ripening Ta Van plums, of which nearly 10 hectares have been harvested. After nearly 5 years of planting, the early-ripening Ta Van plum variety has proven to be suitable for local soil and climate conditions and has added to the province's temperate fruit tree variety structure.

Ta Van plums ripen early and are smaller than Tam Hoa plums. They are crunchy and have a slightly sweet taste. When ripe, the fruit is very sweet.

The development of early-ripening Ta Van plum trees is a reasonable step in diversifying temperate fruit trees, shifting crop structure, developing high-quality clean agricultural products, and at the same time contributing to spreading the harvest, extending the plum season in the Bac Ha highlands, creating a tourism product combined with agriculture for visitors to experience when coming to the "white plateau" of Bac Ha in the summer.
