Conducting an inspection at a pharmacy in Phu Tho 1 Residential Group, Ninh Diem Ward, members of the interdisciplinary inspection team on private medical practice in 2025 of Ninh Hoa town focused on checking the list of drugs being traded, the arrangement of drugs into groups according to regulations. "Recently, in some localities across the country, some functional foods of unknown origin, with signs of counterfeiting, deceiving consumers, were discovered. Therefore, we combined inspection of the trading of functional foods at Western pharmacies. In addition, some products related to oriental medicine, traditional medicine, and cosmetics were also inspected" - Ms. Nguyen Phung Thanh My - Ninh Hoa Town Medical Center, Deputy Head of the inspection team said.

Along with medical professionals, the inspection team includes forces from the fields of market management, police, economics, culture, etc. to comprehensively inspect private medical practice. In particular, market management officers focus on checking the origin, packaging and labels, combined with signs to distinguish genuine and fake Western medicine and functional foods to compare and promptly detect products that violate the law or have signs of counterfeiting. Police officers focus on checking compliance with legal regulations on professional practice, administrative procedures, fire prevention and fighting, etc. Cultural officers check compliance with regulations on advertising and facility signs to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Advertising Law.
In addition to the inspection, the delegation members also focused on propagating and instructing the establishments on some contents related to the business of functional foods, cosmetics, and herbal medicines; especially the origin, ingredients, and certified quality indicators...
Most facilities comply well.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung - Deputy Chief of Office of People's Council and People's Committee of Ninh Hoa town, Head of the inspection team, said that in April and May, the interdisciplinary inspection team inspected 33 private medical facilities in the town. Of which, 4 facilities were under repair and had to temporarily close down. The inspection results showed that most of the facilities complied with the regulations on practice, had full legal documents in pharmaceutical business activities such as: Business conditions, GPP certificate, practice certificate, business registration, etc.
Regarding expertise, the facilities strictly comply with the scope of practice according to the granted license; open a logbook to monitor professional activities and update full information; list prices and purchase invoices according to regulations. The person in charge of expertise and staff at the facility conducts periodic health check-ups. The facilities all update legal documents on private medical practice for the field of business operation. Some facilities advertise drugs, functional foods, etc. and have written permission from competent authorities. The facilities have sufficient facilities and equipment, practice according to the registered address, and the signboards are in accordance with regulations. In addition, the delegation also reminded and requested the facilities to correct some contents related to the standards of erecting signboards, some equipment needs to be invested in and upgraded, etc.
Ms. Phan Hai Thoai - Vice Chairman of Ninh Hoa Town People's Committee said that every year, the town sets up a team to inspect private medical and pharmaceutical establishments, traditional medicine establishments, trading in cosmetics, nutritional foods, and functional foods in the town. In particular, focusing on inspecting compliance with legal regulations on medical examination and treatment, conditions for trading in drugs, cosmetics, nutritional foods, and medical equipment; advertising activities of private medical establishments; and medical waste management for private medical establishments. Through this inspection, the good news is that most establishments operating in the private medical sector have complied well with the provisions of the law. However, in the coming time, it is necessary to organize more surprise inspections to further raise the awareness of compliance of establishments, contributing to the effective implementation of public health care in the area.
