Ninh Binh promotes swimming practice and drowning prevention among the entire population

The Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Day and the 2025 Ninh Binh Province Swimming Tournament for Children and Youth was solemnly held recently in Ninh Binh City. Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department, Member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Olympic Committee attended the ceremony.

Attending the Opening Ceremony were also leaders of provincial departments, agencies, organizations, representatives of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, members of the Organizing Committee, sponsors, teachers, coaches, students, athletes and children.

Deputy Director Le Thi Hoang Yen attended the event.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Vu Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Binh province said: Olympic Day is an annual event of special significance in the mass sports movement, an opportunity for us to honor the humanistic and noble values of sports, and at the same time spread the spirit of practicing sports following the example of great Uncle Ho. This is also a useful playground for students in the summer, thereby raising awareness of health training, life skills, especially swimming skills and drowning prevention.

The activity was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Binh province in coordination with the Vietnam Olympic Committee to implement Plan No. 13/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on organizing the Month of Sports Activities for Everyone and the Olympic Running Day for the Health of the People for the period 2020-2030; Plan No. 149/KH-UBND of the People's Committee on implementing the program to prevent and combat injuries for children in Ninh Binh province for the period 2021-2030 and Plan No. 76/KH-UBOVN of the Vietnam Olympic Committee on organizing the Olympic Day in 2025.

This year's event was organized with many rich contents such as: Running in response to Olympic Day, Propaganda program, training in swimming skills, drowning prevention and competition contents at the Ninh Binh Provincial Swimming Tournament 2025. The event has close coordination between agencies, units and the positive response of all people, contributing to strongly spreading the message: "Each person should choose for themselves a suitable sport to practice every day for health, for the community and for the future of Vietnamese children without drowning - Let's exercise together".

The running program attracted quite a lot of participants.

Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, the accompanying running activity took place with the participation of about 350 to 400 people including: Organizing Committee, leaders of departments and central staff; 150 secondary school students, 80 student athletes from districts, nearly 100 students attending the swimming rescue training class.

The swimming competition for children and youth also took place with the participation of 6 teams from districts, cities and sectors, with a total of 70 athletes. The competition included many events: breaststroke, front crawl, freestyle relay for men and women, divided into many distances and many different age groups. The competition took place at Mai The He Swimming Pool.

Olympic Day, the 2025 Swimming Tournament for Children and Youth is a practical activity in response to the Month of Action for Children; towards the 131st anniversary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee (June 23, 1894 - June 23, 2025), the 49th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Olympic Committee (December 20, 1976 - December 20, 2025).
