Mr. Ngo Khong Anh Tuan is one of four technicians in charge of broadcasting at Ham Rong Broadcasting Station. He said: Before 2005, the broadcasting station was located next to the old provincial Radio and Television Station (now the second branch of Gia Lai Newspaper). However, due to the low-range broadcasting range with a radius of only 40-50 km, people in remote areas of the province had difficulty receiving the signal.

In 2006, the station was moved to the top of Ham Rong Mountain, nearly 15 km from the city center. Thanks to its high location, the signal can be transmitted further, covering most localities in the province with a radius of 80-100 km.

“Although adjacent to Highway 14, the top of Ham Rong is almost deserted, with only sunshine, wind, rain and clouds all year round. From the foot of the mountain to the broadcasting station is a winding slope, more than 400 m high, and going up and down is not easy.

The most dangerous thing is to go to the station to change shifts at night when it is raining and stormy, pine needles and rotten pine trees have fallen on the road, making it very difficult to move around. There were times when I fell off my motorbike, scratched my arms and legs, and my clothes were covered in mud, but I still tried to endure the pain, get up on my motorbike and continue to move to the station on time to change shifts to my colleagues" - Mr. Tuan shared.

Also a technician in the Engineering-Technology-Transmission Department, Mr. Tran Kim The has been working on broadcasting transmission on Ham Rong peak for the past 8 years. What he and his colleagues worry about the most is that Ham Rong peak is as high as a natural lightning rod and is covered by decades-old pine forests. Every time they hear thunder, their hearts skip a beat in worry.

“Every year, the broadcasting station is struck by lightning once or twice, causing damage to the agency’s facilities and equipment. We have made every effort to fix the problem, not to interrupt the province’s two radio and television waves. In addition, at night, there are always two people on duty at the station, taking turns to help each other when they have health problems,” added Mr. The.

Ham Rong Broadcasting Station plays an extremely important role for Gia Lai Newspaper. All radio and television programs to reach the audience in the province depend on this broadcasting station. In particular, in addition to broadcasting provincial programs, Gia Lai Newspaper is currently also responsible for broadcasting 2 national radio channels VOV1 and VOV4 with a duration of 19 hours per day.

Mr. Huynh Ngoc Tran - Deputy Head of the Engineering - Technology - Transmission Department - said: "Although working in a place quite far from the center of Pleiku City, the working conditions are still difficult, but myself and my colleagues on duty at the station all try our best to complete the assigned tasks well.

During the working process, we always receive great attention and encouragement from the unit's leaders, thereby helping each person feel secure in their work, bringing the province's radio and television waves to remote villages, serving the cultural and spiritual needs of the people better and better.
