On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - United States diplomatic relations and the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), on July 10, the National Archives Center III under the State Records and Archives Department organized the Document Exhibition "30 years of Vietnam - United States diplomatic relations".
At the event, the State Records and Archives Department coordinated with the Vietnam - US Association, the "Soldier's Heart" Organization, the "Forever 20" Club and the Vietnam Center, Texas Tech University - USA to organize the return of war relics to families of martyrs and veterans.

The exhibition is divided into three main parts. Part I: Towards establishing diplomatic relations - re-enacting the important steps leading to the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1995. Part II: Cooperation and development - reflecting the cooperation process in the fields of politics , economics, culture, science, education, health, and defense over the years. Part III: Firmly entering a new era - towards the future of sustainable cooperation between the two countries.
The exhibition exploits rich sources of documents from the National Archives Center III under the Department of State Records and Archives, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Center, US Embassy in Vietnam, Texas Tech University - USA, historical witnesses, reflecting important milestones, cooperation efforts in various fields between the two countries...
In particular, the exhibition introduces many documents published for the first time, typically: Documents related to the process of normalizing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States; President Bill Clinton's statement on establishing normal relations with Vietnam, announced at the White House on July 11, 1995, currently kept at the US National Archives; Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet's statement on July 12, 1995 on President Bill Clinton's decision to normalize relations, currently kept at the National Archives Center III.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1995, Vietnam and the United States have gone through important historical milestones together: signing the Bilateral Trade Agreement in 2000, establishing a Comprehensive Partnership in 2013, and culminating in upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace, Cooperation and Sustainable Development in September 2023.
Many achievements have been made after 30 years in the fields of politics - diplomacy, economics - trade, national defense - security, science - technology, education - training, health, culture, tourism with activities of higher frequency, wider scope and more substantial content.
The exhibition not only recreates the 30-year journey of formation and development of Vietnam - US relations, but also sends a message about a future of stable cooperation, together moving towards peace and prosperity.

In addition to displaying documents, the event has special significance in returning war relics to families of martyrs and veterans. This is a humanitarian activity, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and goodwill in the Vietnam - US relationship to overcome the consequences of war.
On this occasion, the US Embassy in Vietnam also presented 30 photos - symbolizing the number of years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States.
