On the morning of August 20, Mr. Bui Ba Lac, Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Ban commune, Phu Tho province, said that on August 19, the People's Committee of the commune and the family of Mr. Nguyen Huu Long handed over many valuable antiques from the Hung King period, including 2 bronze drums, 1 square-headed axe and 1 bronze container to the Phu Tho Provincial Museum.
These artifacts were discovered by Mr. Nguyen Huu Long's family in 2024 while gardening. When digging deep into the ground, Mr. Long found some bronze tools.
Realizing that this could be an ancient relic, his family cleaned it, preserved it and displayed it to introduce and promote to the younger generation the traditional cultural values of the Hung King era.
After a period of consideration, on August 19, Mr. Nguyen Huu Long's family decided to donate all the antiques to the state to serve the research, collection and display work, spreading cultural values to the community.
Immediately after receiving the information, the People's Committee of Van Ban commune reported and coordinated to invite leaders and specialized units of Phu Tho Provincial Museum to appraise.
Through initial surveys, representatives of the Provincial Museum determined that the above artifacts belong to the Dong Son culture period, dating back over 2,500 years. These are rare artifacts, of great historical and cultural value.
The timely reporting and handover of antiques by Mr. Nguyen Huu Long's family is highly appreciated, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and awareness of protecting valuable heritage.
Phu Tho Provincial Museum receives, preserves and displays these antiquities to serve the public, contributing to educating historical and cultural traditions for generations. This is also an important basis for scientists and people to research and study, thereby preserving and promoting the value of national cultural heritage sustainably./.
