Instead of going to a medical facility for treatment, the patient cut the umbilical cord himself and took care of himself at home. As a result, the patient suffered from severe bleeding, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest and had to be hospitalized at Can Tho General Hospital.

Sharing more about the above emergency case, Dr. Huynh Thanh Liem, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, warned that there are many types of abortion drugs of unknown origin on the market, even fake and poor quality products being sold at high prices. If patients arbitrarily use drugs without a prescription or guidance from a doctor, it can lead to dangerous situations such as massive bleeding, infection... seriously affecting health, future reproductive function, and even endangering life.

In fact, Can Tho City Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has received many cases of serious complications due to unsafe abortions without a doctor's prescription, including many cases where patients bought drugs on their own or performed the procedure at unlicensed private clinics. To ensure the safety of their health and lives, Dr. Liem recommends that women with unwanted pregnancies should seek advice from specialized obstetrics and gynecology hospitals and perform safe abortion procedures in accordance with the law.
