With the attention and support of the State, Party committees and local authorities, the family of Mrs. Bui Thi Gam, Cao Phong quarter, Ngoc Lac commune, has built a spacious house.
In 1986, Mr. Quach Van Chuc in Cao Phong quarter joined the army, assigned to unit HT.5NK.3015 stationed in Hanoi . After that, he participated in an international mission in the Upper Laos region. In September 1989, during a mission, Mr. Chuc sacrificed himself, leaving behind his parents, young wife, and young children. From then on, Mrs. Bui Thi Gam - Mr. Chuc's wife, took care of and shouldered the household chores alone. In 2024, with the attention and support of the State, local Party committees, authorities, relatives, and the family's savings, Mrs. Gam was able to build a spacious and solid house.
Mrs. Bui Thi Gam shared: "The pain of losing a life partner is too great. But with the care and encouragement of the State, Party committees, local authorities, and neighbors, the pain has somewhat eased. My family has built a solid house, creating motivation for the family to overcome difficulties, develop the economy , and stabilize life."
Currently, Ngoc Lac commune has 230 people with meritorious services to the revolution and policy families. Determining that caring for policy families and people with meritorious services to the revolution is both a responsibility and a meaningful humanitarian act, Ngoc Lac commune has strengthened propaganda work, raising awareness of cadres, party members and people about the gratitude movement. At the same time, fully and promptly implement the State's policies for policy families and people with meritorious services. In addition, the commune always focuses on mobilizing businesses and individuals to actively contribute to the "Gratitude Fund"; supporting policy families and people with meritorious services to build and repair houses. From 2022 to present, in the commune, there are 11 policy families and people with meritorious services to the revolution who have received support to build and repair houses.
With the full implementation of State policies and local support, the material and spiritual life of policy families and people with revolutionary contributions in Ngoc Lac commune has gradually improved. Currently, the rate of policy families and people with revolutionary contributions whose living standards are equal to or better than the average living standards of local residents is over 98%. Many war invalids, sick soldiers, and martyrs' families have strived to overcome pain and loss, overcome difficulties to develop the economy, increase income, raise successful children, and contribute to building their homeland. Typical examples include war invalid Pham Ngoc Thanh in Tam Dong village, with a comprehensive economic development model, earning several hundred million VND annually, creating jobs for many workers; war invalid Nguyen Xuan Bao in Giang Son village has strived to overcome difficulties to raise successful children.
Chairman of Ngoc Lac Commune People's Committee Le Cong Tam said: "In the coming time, the commune will continue to promote propaganda and education on the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source"; mobilize agencies, businesses and individuals to actively participate in supporting the "Gratitude Fund" and organize many activities to show gratitude to families with meritorious services and people with meritorious services to the revolution. Coordinate with provincial departments and branches to well implement military rear policies and policies for people with meritorious services, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of families with meritorious services and people with meritorious services to the revolution in the area".
