David Greilsammer, one of the most talented pianists and conductors of his generation, will take the audience on a mesmerizing and soaring emotional journey through a solo piano recital entitled “Fairies, Dreams and Dances”. The program will be held at 8:00 p.m. on July 12, 2025 at Alexandre Yersin French High School, No. 44, Gia Thuong Street, Ngoc Thuy Ward, Long Bien District, Hanoi .

The program will open with the first movement of Robert Schumann’s Davidsbündlertänze, a romantic, magical and emotional suite of dances symbolizing the composer’s intense love for his fiancée. The work marks the beginning of a journey that explores the connection between dance, dreams and fantasy , while highlighting the virtuosity and beauty of the German Romantic style.

Next is Claude Debussy's Les fées sont d'exquises danseuses (The Fairies Are Wonderful Dancers), where each note invites the audience into a dreamy, ethereal, and otherworldly world. The piece is delicate and gentle, reminiscent of the graceful movements of fairies.

The program also features George Gershwin’s Prélude N°1, a jazzy and New York-inspired piece that is both free-spirited and fiery. Henry Purcell’s Courante in D minor is a fast and elegant dance that epitomizes the English Baroque. It evokes the excitement and extravagance of 18th-century English royal court balls.

Next up is the captivating Forlane from Le Tombeau de Couperin (The Tomb of Couperin) by the great French composer Maurice Ravel, with its French brilliance and elegance.

A special moment of the night: a composition dedicated to David Greilsammer by the talented young British composer Georgie Ward, which is being performed for the first time in the world. The work recreates a unique and free-spirited fantasy scene of a nightclub dance. A rare moment, fresh, creative and innovative – where tradition meets modernity.

The concert will take the audience back to Maurice Ravel's majestic "Rigaudon", to the timeless beauty of Purcell's Hornpipe in D minor - an ancient baroque folk dance. The audience will also return to the American sounds and vibrant swing of Gershwin, before immersing themselves in the world of French impressionism with French composer Claude Debussy's Dancers of Delphi.

The entire program ended with the second movement of Schumann's Davidsbündlertänze suite, which offered unforgettable moments of virtuosity, lyricism and poetry on the piano keys.

Always searching for new musical emotions, David Greilsammer creates a symmetrical sound circle, where each piece dialogues with the next, forming a complete musical journey, both profound and expansive. Each piece, each movement is a dance, a dream, a rhythmic interweaving, taking the listener into a magical musical world.

In addition to his solo performance, artist David Greilsammer will also perform with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra in Hanoi on July 5, in Hue on July 7, in Da Nang on July 8, in Da Lat on July 10 and in Ho Chi Minh City on July 11.

David Greilsammer is known as one of the most pioneering and courageous conductors and pianists in contemporary music. He has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, with innovative projects, groundbreaking interpretations and revolutionary artistic encounters between different genres and artistic disciplines.

His latest solo album, Labyrinth, released on Naïve, has received numerous prestigious awards and has been hailed as “pioneering”, “brave” and “stunning” by the press. His other recordings as a conductor and pianist, released on Sony Classical, have also been recognized by major publications such as The New York Times, The Boston Globe and The Sunday Times.

That same year, he was awarded a Grammy Award and the Classical: NEXT Innovation Award for innovative projects in the field of classical music.
