Blood donation festival "Red Drops of Lang" in 2025

After 13 years of organization, the Red Journey program has received increasing attention from localities and response from the majority of people with the number of days of organization, the number of participating localities and the number of blood units received each year increasing.

To date, 59 provinces and cities across the country have participated in the Red Journey, with 940,000 units of blood donated. These are numbers and results that demonstrate the persistence and strong influence over more than a decade of implementing the mission of "Connecting Vietnamese Blood".

Red Journey has become the largest and most effective blood donation campaign, leaving a deep impression in the more than 30-year development journey of the voluntary blood donation movement nationwide.

In recent years, the Voluntary Blood Donation movement in Lang Son province has developed rapidly, attracting many agencies, units and people to actively respond.

The amount of blood received in Lang Son province has increased steadily over the years. In 2024, the whole province received over 10,600 units of blood, the rate of population participating in blood donation reached 1.32%; in the first 6 months of 2025, the whole province received nearly 3,200 units of blood.

However, the amount of blood still does not meet the province's emergency and treatment needs, the rate of blood donation is still lower than the national average of 1.7%. In 2024 alone, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion provided the province with nearly 13,000 units, and in the first 6 months of 2025, nearly 6,500 units.

According to comrade Duong Xuan Huyen, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province, Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Lang Son province, 2025 is the 12th consecutive year that Lang Son province has participated in organizing the Red Journey Program with the theme "Red Drops of Lang Land".

The organization of the program has contributed to raising awareness among all classes of people about the meaning and importance of blood donation to save lives; the responsibility of all levels, sectors and people for this work; actively participating in voluntary blood donation, overcoming the shortage of blood for emergency and life-saving treatment.

In the coming time, Lang Son province determined that after the two-level local government model comes into operation, the Provincial Red Cross Society - the standing agency of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee, needs to continue to pay attention and closely coordinate with Party committees, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, and socio-political organizations of communes and wards to effectively organize voluntary blood donation campaigns.

This successful organization will contribute to promoting the message of love and spreading kindness throughout society. Lang Son province strives to bring the rate of blood donation in the province to equal and exceed the national average (currently, the rate of blood donation in Lang Son is 1.2% compared to the national average of 1.7%).

On the morning of June 19, the Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee of Lang Son province received 749 units of blood that met the conditions to supply to medical facilities throughout the province.

It is known that in 2025, the 13th Red Journey program is expected to be held in 48 provinces and cities in June and July. As of June 19, 18 provinces and cities have successfully organized the Red Journey and received over 12,000 units of blood at the main festival; in addition, the organizing committee also received tens of thousands of units of blood at blood donation days in response to the Red Journey program.
