On August 31, Agribank said it had deployed tasks to ensure timely gift giving to people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
Accordingly, Agribank arranges staff to work during holidays; proactively coordinates with the State Treasury in localities, ready to serve cash disbursements to the State Treasury, including transactions outside of working hours and on holidays, ensuring timely money transfers and cash withdrawals for gifts to people, within the prescribed time. Agribank does not charge fees when people withdraw money according to the Government 's policy.
Regarding the gift of 100,000 VND/person to all people, some banks said that in recent days, there has been a situation where people have taken advantage of information about the Government's gift-giving policy to carry out fake and fraudulent acts to appropriate people's assets. The tricks of the criminals are sending messages and emails containing malicious code, impersonating police officers , bank officers to request information...
"Customers and citizens should not click on strange links or download applications from unknown sources. Do not provide account numbers, passwords, or OTP codes to anyone in any form. Do not transfer money to strangers, including police, government officials, or bank employees. Only receive information through official channels of the Government, the State Bank of Vietnam, and Agribank," the bank recommends.
Many banks are working through the holidays to ensure timely and proper transfers and cash withdrawals for gifts to people.
BIDV has also warned customers about scams taking advantage of the program to give money to the whole population on the occasion of Independence Day. Accordingly, scammers will impersonate police officers, state agencies, and bank employees to contact customers via phone, social networks (Facebook, Zalo, Telegram, Viber, etc.) to "instruct them to link their social security accounts to their bank accounts" or "instruct them to receive support money".
Next, the scammer will send a fake link/file containing malicious code or ask the customer to provide personal information, banking application password, OTP code. Entice the victim to transfer money directly with the reason of fees, charges...
"The bank only guides and supports customers via the official website, BIDV SmartBanking application, customer care hotline 1900 9247 and through BIDV branches. The bank never asks customers to provide passwords, OTPl never asks customers to transfer any money to receive support" - this bank warned.
Banks also recommend that customers only download applications on the App Store/CH Play. If you detect any suspicious signs, you should report to the nearest bank branch or the nearest police station.
Previously, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 149 dated August 28 on giving gifts to people nationwide on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. The gift amount is 100,000 VND/person, for all people to celebrate Independence Day.
