Russia says it has 'learned to overcome' Western sanctions

On November 3, the Kremlin said that Russia has learned to adapt to Western sanctions imposed on Moscow related to the military campaign in Ukraine.

However, the agency also stressed that such measures actually caused more problems.

Accordingly, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "We have learned to overcome them," referring to Western sanctions.

The Kremlin made the above comment after the US on November 2 announced a new package of sanctions, targeting Arctic LNG 2 and many other individuals and entities in the context of the conflict in Ukraine that has no way out.

Previously, on October 31, Bloomberg reported that the European Union (EU) was negotiating a new round of sanctions that would affect about 5 billion Euros (5.3 billion USD) in trade with Russia.

The bloc's 12th package of Russia sanctions will reportedly tighten restrictions on Moscow's revenue sources and industries.

New measures could include export restrictions on welding machines, chemicals and technology used for military purposes.

The EU is also said to be considering software licensing bans and import restrictions on small quantities of wrought metals and aluminium products, as well as various construction items, transport-related goods and diamonds.

Sources say the proposed new import-export restrictions against Moscow would be worth around €2.5 billion each.
