Neville criticises Sesko and Amorim's substitution decision

Manchester United legend Gary Neville said Benjamin Sesko “hasn’t reached the required speed” after the “Red Devils” drew 1-1 with Fulham in the second round of the Premier League on the night of August 24.

MU legend thinks Sesko needs to play more.

On his personal podcast, the former "Red Devils" defender commented that there were too many expectations for Sesko. However, this 22-year-old striker still only came on as a substitute. Before that, he only played the second half in the 0-1 loss to Arsenal in the previous round.

Neville analyzed: “Man United had many chances in the second half. The problem is that after the substitution, Fulham were stronger, Man United were weaker. Sesko is clearly not fit enough at the moment. He needs to start, at least 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup against Grimsby, to be ready for Burnley.”

Neville stressed that the Red Devils could not afford to leave a player of great value and potential on the bench. However, he admitted that Amorim was in a dilemma because he wanted to keep Mason Mount on the pitch. When Sesko came on, Mount dropped back, Casemiro left the pitch, Man United's defence was wide open and Fulham almost scored another goal.

Neville also pointed out the “strange” decision of Amorim to withdraw Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw in the final five minutes. “You shouldn’t change the defence at such a sensitive time,” he said.

The draw leaves United without a win in the Premier League this season after defeat to Arsenal and a draw at Craven Cottage. The Red Devils will face Grimsby in the Carabao Cup on August 28, before returning to Old Trafford to take on Burnley at the weekend.
