Every drop of blood given, a life remains
According to the provincial Red Cross, the demand for blood for emergency and treatment services at hospitals in and outside the province is always high, and is easily scarce during holidays and Tet. Therefore, the launch of blood donation on National Day, September 2, is of great significance.
In many localities in the province such as Tan Ninh ward, Thanh Dien ward, Long An ward, Can Giuoc commune,... in July, August, early September, many humanitarian blood donation programs were implemented. Union members and young people (YU) are one of the leading forces in humanitarian blood donation activities. Promoting the youth and pioneering spirit, the Youth Union bases actively propagate and mobilize members to participate in concentrated blood donation campaigns, creating a strong spreading effect.
500 cadres, civil servants, union members and youths from all over the province participated in blood donation organized by the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee.
More than 500 volunteers, including young union members, officials, civil servants, public employees, agencies and units across the province, participated in the recent blood donation campaign, organized by the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee in coordination with the Cho Ray Regional Blood Transfusion Center ( Ho Chi Minh City), portraying a beautiful picture of solidarity and sharing. Nearly 300 units of blood were received by the Cho Ray Regional Blood Transfusion Center.
Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Tan Ninh Ward Nguyen Thi Kim Phu said: “The ward’s youth are always the pioneers in humanitarian blood donation activities. They participate not only because of social responsibility but also see this as a way to contribute to the Fatherland in peacetime”. Tran Tuan Trung - Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union member of Tan Ninh Ward, excitedly shared: “I have donated blood 4 times on the occasion of National Day, September 2nd every year and feel very proud to contribute a small part to saving people. For me, donating blood is not only an obligation but also a responsibility and joy”.
Notably, the blood donation movement in the province not only attracted a large number of young union members, cadres, civil servants and public employees to participate, but also received strong support from religious people, Buddhists and people throughout the province. This is a clear demonstration of community solidarity and a common heart for human life.
Venerable Thich Le Ngon - Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province, Abbot of An Tho Pagoda (Long An Ward), said: “The pagoda always maintains regular blood donation activities. Up to now, the pagoda has organized 20 blood donation campaigns, thousands of blood units have been received, contributing to saving the lives of many patients. And the recently successful blood donation campaign, on the occasion of September 2nd, contributed 450 blood units to the blood bank, which is also a meaningful activity for monks, Buddhists, and people in the province.”
Spreading cultural beauty in national festival
If the whole country has the “Pink Spring Festival” and “Red Journey”, in Tay Ninh, the humanitarian blood donation days associated with the National Day 02/9 have become a special highlight. There, the spirit of “mutual love and support” is not only a call but also realized through simple but meaningful actions.
People join hands to donate blood at An Tho Pagoda (Long An Ward)
Notably, the voluntary blood donation movement on September 2 this year is associated with the campaign “Proud of Vietnamese Blood” launched by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. This combination has fueled the spread, enhancing the significance of blood donation activities, while also arousing national pride and responsibility of each citizen towards the community.
Mr. Le Van Thanh, a resident of Long An ward, who has donated blood 15 times, expressed: "Every drop of blood donated during the great national festival makes me appreciate the value of sharing and community connection even more." Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Nhi, a resident of Nhon Ninh commune, shared: "My family has been involved in blood donation activities at An Tho pagoda for many years. This time, when we knew there was an event, we continued to register and mobilized more friends to join, the whole group of 7 people traveled more than 60km to donate drops of blood of love."
Celebrating National Day on September 2 is not only an occasion for Tay Ninh people to review the heroic history of the nation but also an opportunity for each person to turn their love for the Fatherland into practical actions. On average, each year, before and after National Day on September 2, the whole province provides about 2,000 units of blood, contributing to the timely treatment of hundreds of patients.
These noble acts have enriched the nation's thousand-year-old tradition of humanity, affirming that humanitarian blood donation is a beautiful cultural feature of the community, spreading from today to tomorrow./.
