On September 5, the General Department of Customs announced that the total import-export value of Vietnam's goods in the first 8 months reached 597.93 billion USD, an increase of 16.3% (equivalent to an increase of 83.89 billion USD) over the same period in 2024, showing the strong recovery and development of Vietnam's international trade.
Specifically, export turnover reached 305.96 billion USD, up 14.8% (up 39.53 billion USD) over the same period. In addition, import turnover reached 291.97 billion USD, up 17.9% (up 44.36 billion USD). As a result, Vietnam's trade balance of goods in the first 8 months of 2025 continued to have a surplus of 13.99 billion USD, but decreased by 25.7% compared to the surplus of 18.83 billion USD in the same period of 2024.
In August alone, the total value of goods exports and imports reached 83.06 billion USD, up 0.9% (up 769 million USD) compared to July. Of which, exports reached 43.39 billion USD, up 2.6% (up 1.1 billion USD compared to the previous month), while imports reached 39.67 billion USD, down 0.8% (down 329 million USD). The trade balance of goods in August maintained an impressive surplus of 3.72 billion USD.
Regarding state budget revenue from import-export activities, total revenue in August reached VND 35,501 billion, down 10.2% (down VND 4,040 billion) compared to July. However, accumulated in 8 months, state budget revenue reached VND 298,301 billion, equal to 72.6% of the year's estimate and up 8.4% (up VND 23,115 billion) compared to the same period in 2024./.
