The water level in Hoa Binh reservoir (Hoa Binh hydroelectric reservoir) has dropped more than 40 meters compared to when the flood was released, many areas have exposed the bottom, revealing mounds of soil and rocks.

Mr. Bui Van Ky, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hien Luong Commune, added that this situation is seriously affecting the lives and production of local people. "In this situation, the commune government has proactively advised people to use water resources economically and reasonably. At the same time, people have also been encouraged to switch to secondary economic activities such as growing vegetables on newly exposed land, or exploiting available resources in a sustainable manner," said Mr. Ky. Hoa Binh Lake - the largest artificial lake in Southeast Asia was formed after the construction of the Hoa Binh Hydroelectric Plant on the Da River. With a length of 230 km, with a capacity of 9.45 billion m3 of water, the lake stretches through districts and cities of Hoa Binh province (70 km): Hoa Binh city, Cao Phong, Da Bac, Mai Chau, Tan Lac to Son La province.
