On the afternoon of July 24, the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) updated the floor score based on the 2025 capacity assessment exam (PT3) and the floor score of the two majors of microchip design and semiconductor technology.

Compared to the previous announcement on July 17, the new floor scores of the above two majors based on the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam have decreased sharply.
Specifically, the initial floor score for the semiconductor technology industry and the microchip design industry was 850, and was adjusted down to 765.
This adjustment is based on Decision No. 2101 dated July 22 of the Ministry of Education and Training on amending the training program standards on semiconductor microcircuits at university and master's levels.
According to this decision, the Ministry of Education and Training removed the regulation that students must achieve a minimum score of 8 points in math and a total score of 24/30 or higher in three subjects in a combination to be able to register for semiconductor microcircuit programs.
The school also informed that the quality assurance threshold for the microchip design and semiconductor technology industries is as follows:
For the method based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam , the quality assurance threshold of candidates when registering for admission must satisfy all of the following conditions:
Firstly, the candidate's admission subject combination must include math, at least one of the following subjects: physics, chemistry, or information technology.
Second, candidates in the group of 25% of candidates with the highest combined subject scores nationwide, in 2025, the minimum combined subject score is equivalent to 20.1 points of combined A01 according to the Ministry's regulations on comparing the score distribution of some combined high school exam scores in 2025, high school study scores.
Third, candidates in the group of 20% of candidates with the highest math scores nationwide according to data published annually by the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2025 the minimum math score is 6.5 points.
For the method based on the 2025 competency assessment exam , in addition to general requirements, the quality assurance threshold of candidates when registering must satisfy the following conditions:
Firstly, candidates must have an average math score of 8.0 or higher in grades 10, 11, and 12 on a 10-point scale.

Second, candidates who achieve the competency assessment score when converted to the 2025 high school exam score correspond to the group of 25% of candidates with the admission subject combination score in the percentile table of the Ministry of Education and Training (equivalent to 20.1 points of combination A01 according to the Ministry's regulations on comparing the score distribution of some combinations of high school exam scores in 2025, high school study scores).
Microchip design and semiconductor technology are the so-called "king of all industries" majors that will be opened for the first time in 2024 by the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
According to experts and businesses in the semiconductor industry, Vietnam currently only supplies 20% of human resources needs.
It is expected that by 2030, Vietnam will need 50,000 engineers to participate in the semiconductor industry, of which the number of microchip design engineers will need an additional 12,000-15,000 engineers.
