Medvedev wins in 16-game 'break' match

American Daniil Medvedev took advantage of nine of 22 break-points, when he defeated Sebastian Korda 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open on the evening of March 11.

Medvedev won nine service games, but also lost seven. The world number four saved only two of nine break points in the day's final match on Centre Court.

Medvedev and Korda are both over 1.95m tall and have strong serves. But in the third round, both served poorly. Medvedev hit 51% of his first balls, while Korda hit 56%. Both had a total of only five aces, while Medvedev made 10 double faults.

Medvedev won 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, but was not satisfied with his performance. In the fourth round, he will meet 13th seed Grigor Dimitrov - who defeated Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 6-3.

With Novak Djokovic, Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz eliminated early, the top eight seeds are down to five. Three of them will play tonight and tomorrow morning, Hanoi time. Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz plays Fabian Marozsan at 3am, before Alexander Zverev faces Alex De Minaur and Jannik Sinner faces Ben Shelton.
