Man City have confirmed their dominance at the FIFA Club World Cup, convincingly qualifying for the knockout stages after a 6-0 thrashing of Al Ain. The UAE side have officially exited the tournament with a forgettable record, conceding 11 goals in just two games.
Man City dominated the game from the very first minutes. It took just eight minutes for Ilkay Gundogan to open the scoring, although his touch in the box looked like an attempted pass, but it went straight into the net, beating goalkeeper Khalid Eisa. Al Ain were not completely out of it, though. Nassim Chadli almost equalised, but his shot was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

Al Ain’s resistance was only temporary. Just before half-time, Claudio Echeverri scored his first goal for the club with a classy free-kick to make it 2-0. Things got worse for Al Ain when VAR intervened, determining that Ramy Rabia had pulled Manuel Akanji in the box. Erling Haaland made no mistake from the penalty spot in stoppage time, easily converting the chance to score Man City’s third goal.
Despite coach Vladimir Ivic making changes early in the second half, he could not stop Man City's goal-scoring storm. Haaland almost had a double if it were not for a brilliant double save from goalkeeper Eisa. However, the fourth goal came in the 73rd minute. Gundogan once again shone with a delicate move in the box, before finishing coolly past Eisa to complete his double.

Man City did not stop there, Pep Guardiola's students and scored two more goals before the end of the match. Oscar Bobb easily tapped the ball into the goal, and Rayan Cherki sealed the 6-0 victory with his first goal for Man City.
With this result, Man City will face Juventus in the final match of the group stage. Both teams are maintaining a perfect record and will compete for the top spot. Meanwhile, Al Ain will have an honorary match against Wydad.
