The signing ceremony took place at Vietnam Airlines headquarters in Hanoi, with the participation of many high-ranking representatives of the two countries. On the Malaysian side, there was the presence of His Excellency Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing - Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture; Mr. Dato' Tan Yang Thai - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Vietnam; Mr. Datuk Manoharan Periasamy - General Director of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Agency and the working delegation. Representatives of the Vietnamese side included Mr. Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai - Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism; Mr. Dang Anh Tuan - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines and leaders of relevant units.

Strengthening cooperation in aviation and sustainable tourism
Speaking at the ceremony, Datuk Manoharan Periasamy emphasized: "Today's event is not just a formal agreement, but also a symbol of the strategic partnership and future orientation. The two countries playing a key role in ASEAN tourism will work together to connect countries and people through tourism, culture and sustainable development."

After the speeches, the MoC signing ceremony was held with the participation of Mr. Dang Anh Tuan - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines and Mr. Datuk Manoharan Periasamy - General Director of Tourism Promotion Agency of Malaysia.
New platform for bilateral tourism promotion
This MoU lays the foundation for larger and more effective tourism promotion activities between the two countries. The two sides commit to coordinate in promoting bilateral tourism through Vietnam Airlines' flight system, while focusing on sustainable tourism development activities and expanding target markets.
Many guests and leaders of the aviation and tourism industry attended the important event at Vietnam Airlines headquarters.
In the coming time, Vietnam Airlines and the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board will implement a series of cooperation programs such as co-branded promotional campaigns, organizing survey trips, communication activities, promotional events and sharing market information. The goal is to make Malaysia a top destination for Vietnamese tourists, while affirming Vietnam Airlines' position as the preferred airline for trips to Malaysia.
Widely connected airline network
As of July 2025, there will be a total of 164 direct flights per week between the two countries, offering 29,734 seats, directly connecting major Vietnamese cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Da Lat, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang with prominent Malaysian destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu. These routes are operated by Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, AirAsia, Batik Air and Malaysia Airlines, effectively meeting the growing demand for travel, tourism and trade between the two countries.
Strengthening promotional campaigns in the Vietnamese market
In parallel with aviation cooperation, Malaysia is actively expanding promotional activities in Vietnam through seminars, cultural and culinary events and communication campaigns targeting both mass and niche markets.
The MoC opens up opportunities to promote tourism and sustainable development between the two Southeast Asian countries.
Highlights of this series of promotional activities include the MADANI Malaysia Week in Hanoi, the Malaysia Tourism, Culture and Cuisine Festival 2025 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the "Malaysia My Second Home" (MM2H) program, and the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
