Liverpool have a 'trump card' to recruit Isak

Liverpool are at the center of the 2025 summer transfer window with high-profile signings and a series of player sales, but their ambitions have not stopped there.

Liverpool want to use Harvey Elliott to pursue blockbuster deal Alexander Isak in the summer of 2025.

According to The Guardian , “The Kop” are targeting Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, and they could use Harvey Elliott as a “trump card” to make the deal happen. Elliott just had a successful U21 Euro 2025 season, helping England U21 win the tournament.

The Liverpool star himself was named Player of the Tournament. Elliott's impressive performances with England U21s have helped the midfielder's value increase significantly, catching the eye of many big clubs, including Newcastle.

Liverpool value Elliott at £50m. Therefore, the Anfield team is ready to negotiate with Newcastle in case the Tyneside club wants to own Elliott. Liverpool's board believes Elliott will be the key to helping them convince Newcastle, while also reducing the financial burden of the Isak deal.

Liverpool will use the 22-year-old midfielder as part of a “player-plus-cash” deal. Talk Sport says Newcastle have expressed a strong interest in Elliott, after failing to sign Joao Pedro (who joined Chelsea) and Bryan Mbeumo (who is set to sign for Manchester United).

If Liverpool are successful in using Elliott as part of the Isak deal, it would be a strategic move that would significantly strengthen the club. In addition to the expected £50m from Elliott’s sale, Liverpool are also expected to make around £70m from the sale of Darwin Núñez, who has failed to live up to expectations at Anfield.

In total, this amount could help “The Kop” meet the huge price of 120-150 million pounds that Newcastle asked for Isak, while maintaining financial balance according to the Profitability and Sustainability Regulation (PSR).

Liverpool are making waves in the transfer market, spending more than £200m in the summer transfer window alone. The 2024/25 Premier League champions are closing in on a £35m move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

However, Liverpool's ambitions do not stop there. Sources from the British press said that "The Kop" can afford to spend at least 100-150 million pounds more on new players.
