Present at the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park training ground from 6 o'clock, we saw more than 300 officers and soldiers in two standing blocks stabilize their formation and start practicing. The team of teachers and managers in the blocks focused on monitoring, recording, scoring and promptly adjusting the soldiers' movements. After two months of training, the posture, style, movement skills and bravery of the officers and soldiers in the blocks were increasingly improved and enhanced. After hours of standing at attention under the scorching, harsh summer sun, the entire formation remained neat and unified. Sweat poured out, rolling down the faces of eighteen and twenty-year-olds, already darkened by the sun and wind of the training ground, making the eyes of the young soldiers sting; their uniforms were soaked with sweat. The closer it got to noon, the more intense the sun became. Even though they were exhausted and their feet were numb, with great will and determination, the entire team maintained their position until the end of the morning practice at 10:30.

Lieutenant General Pham Duc Duyen, Political Commissar of Military Region 2, inspected and encouraged officers and soldiers participating in the standing block.

Wiping away sweat with his hand, Private First Class Leng Diu Sung, a soldier of Regiment 174, Division 316, participating in the Coast Guard standing block, confided: “According to the requirements of the training program, the forces in the standing block must ensure standing at attention for 4-5 hours continuously. During the standing at attention process, each individual must maintain a fresh appearance, not relax their body but keep their body straight, chest out, stomach slightly pulled in, and shoulders balanced to form a solemn and unified formation. The most difficult point for us is to concentrate highly to maintain almost absolute stability for a long time. Although the training is hard, my teammates and I always have a good sense of responsibility, build up our determination, and make every effort to complete our tasks in a very glorious manner, contributing to the success of the great holiday of the country.”

Learning more, we learned that when standing at attention continuously under the hot sun, officers and soldiers quickly lose their physical strength, their joints and muscles become stiff, their necks, shoulders, and napes become tired, and they are prone to dizziness, vertigo, cramps, and face the risk of sunstroke and heatstroke. Therefore, to help officers and soldiers complete their tasks well, according to Colonel Do Xuan Phuc, Deputy Division Commander of Division 316, the Organizing Committee of the parade and march of Military Region 2 has directed the medical force to conduct daily health checks for soldiers, prepare and supervise the forces to drink enough electrolyte water according to regulations before entering the training. At the same time, proactively monitor comrades who are not in good health during the training process to have appropriate training and practice measures. Medical teams are always on duty at the training areas, ready to provide first aid when situations arise, especially when soldiers suffer from sunstroke and heatstroke.

The organizing committee of the parade of Military Region 2 inspected and encouraged the forces participating in the training.
Young soldiers of Military Region 2 participate in serious and quality standing training.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also arranged a reasonable time, directed the forces to maintain morning practice with a similar time frame and strive to be longer than the actual time of the celebration so that the forces can get used to the biological rhythm, avoiding a state of loss of concentration or drowsiness during the standing ceremony. In the afternoon, after the practice hours, organize a snack, then let the soldiers run long distances, do push-ups, sit-ups to increase health and endurance. During the practice process, direct the blocks to broadcast news bulletins, competition news and propaganda content to make the officers and soldiers more excited and enthusiastic about competing in practice.

Colonel Trinh Ca, Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Parade and March Organizing Committee of Military Region 2, said that, in order to carry out the tasks assigned by superiors, the Party Committee and the Head of the Military Region 2 Command have directed agencies and units to select forces to participate in the A80 parade and march in a strict, serious and thorough manner; only selecting officers and soldiers with sufficient height and health reaching type 1 and 2, with cardiovascular and musculoskeletal indexes reaching type 1. Along with that, the organizing unit has done a good job of political and ideological education, thoroughly grasping the tasks, raising awareness, responsibility, pride and building determination for the forces. During the training process, the Military Region has directed functional agencies to promote cultural and artistic activities; emulation, commendation, timely recognition of typical collectives and individuals who have overcome difficulties; at the same time, paying attention to and taking care of the material and spiritual life of the troops. Thanks to that, up to now, 100% of officers and soldiers in the blocs have identified their tasks well, proactively overcome difficulties, constantly improve their will, courage and physical strength, and strive to excellently complete their arduous but also very sacred and proud tasks.
