Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Lattana Sihalat expressed her emotion and appreciation for the sentiments of the Vietnamese army and people, especially the soldiers of the 678th Corps, towards the Lao revolution. The Deputy Ambassador affirmed: "The Lao Party, State and people will always remember and be deeply grateful for the wholehearted and righteous assistance of Vietnam during the difficult years. The contributions of the 678th Corps are a living symbol of the loyal and pure relationship between the two peoples."
During their mission in Laos, the soldiers of the 678th Corps always completed all tasks excellently, demonstrating the noble international spirit and the steadfast qualities of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers”. Many of them heroically sacrificed themselves to protect every inch of land and peace for the Lao people. Resounding victories such as the battles in Nam Tich, Muong Cau, Muong Huong... along the Mekong River border have made important contributions to the cause of liberating and building Laos.
After completing their international service and returning to their hometowns, the veterans of the 678th Regiment continued to uphold the spirit of soldiers in peacetime. Many held key roles in the government and organizations, enthusiastically participated in socio -economic development, and actively contributed to the development of their homeland. They are not only historical witnesses, but also shining examples for the younger generation of loyalty, solidarity, and the morality of “remembering the source of water when drinking”.
