Tet Xip Xi is a long-standing traditional festival of the Thai ethnic group in Phu Yen. This is an occasion for descendants to remember their ancestors, pray for favorable weather, bountiful crops, and is also a "Children's Festival", a recognition of their contribution to the family's production activities, when children get to play, wear beautiful clothes, and enjoy traditional dishes.
With its humanistic, unique values imbued with traditional identity, on August 9, 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized the Xip Xi Tet Ritual of the Thai ethnic group in Phu Yen as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This year, "Tet Xip Xi" is organized by Phu Yen commune with many rich activities, including: Incense offering ceremony, worship ritual, ethnic culinary contest, display of OCOP products and local agricultural products, space to experience traditional crafts, folk games, Thai xoe dance...
The festival featured an art program with 7 performances of singing, dancing, music, and a performance of Thai ethnic costumes. The performances were elaborately staged, praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the love for the homeland and country, while honoring the long-standing traditional cultural beauty of the Phu Yen White Thai people.
The activities at the festival aim to strengthen solidarity among the ethnic people in the commune, contributing to propagating and promoting the fine cultural traditions of the White Thai people to the young generation and tourists from all over.
