Where children can have a voice
Unlike the usual activities, this forum is special in that the main characters are not adults, but students. They are encouraged to speak up: from small joys, simple dreams to worries and concerns before the new school year.
Warm and intimate atmosphere in the forum organized by Tho Khanh Village Women's Association before the new school year.
Third grader Ho Minh Thu smiled shyly and said, "I hope next summer my parents will let me go to the beach once, because this year I just stay home and study."
Minh Thu's wish made the whole hall burst into laughter. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thao Ly, a 7th grade student, shyly shared: "I hope my parents understand me better and don't worry too much when my scores are not as expected. I just need my parents to encourage me and let me try my best every day." The whole hall fell silent for a few seconds at those sincere confessions.
Some children talked about their dream of becoming a doctor to treat the poor. Others innocently expressed their desire to join a football club, to have fun and prove themselves. These seemingly simple things, sometimes in the hustle and bustle of family life, are not heard.
Students innocently share their dreams and feelings in the forum "Listen to your children talk"
After listening to her children's confessions, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nghia choked up and shared: "I always thought my children were still young and didn't know how to think, but through this forum, I realized that my children have many thoughts and wishes. I think adults have to change, personally I will spend more time talking to my children."
Ms. Ho Thi Thuan, a parent, had red eyes when she heard her child share: "Sometimes we are so busy working, just hoping our children will study well, forgetting that they also have their own pressures and dreams. Listening to my child today, I feel like I need to accompany and listen more."
Prepare for a new journey
Not only does the forum create a space for children to express themselves, it is also a place for the Women's Union and parents to contribute to the children's luggage. It is not only words of encouragement, but also a lesson about love for the homeland, national pride, the spirit of sharing and responsibility to the community.
Through the stories, the children were reminded that Nghe An – a land with a rich tradition of learning – has had many examples of people overcoming difficulties to become successful. From there, the children believed more that, with determination and the support of family and teachers, any difficulty can be overcome.
Parents and teachers accompany and provide more love for students entering the new school year.
In addition, practical life skills are also imparted: how to manage time, how to behave with friends, and how to deal with study pressure. These seemingly small things are the foundation for students to confidently embark on their upcoming journey of knowledge.
Ms. Ho Thi Huong, Head of the Women's Union of Tho Khanh village, shared: "We hope that the children will not only be good at knowledge but also have solid life skills. Only then can they confidently step into the future and become useful citizens for society."
With its closeness and sincerity, the forum has given the children more motivation to enter the new school year. That luggage is not only books and pens, but also understanding and love from family and community, along with life skills and values cultivated through each story.
