Lam Dong lacks 5,433 teachers in the 2025-2026 school year

Comrade Nguyen Minh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee inspected preparations for the new school year in Ta Dung commune, especially the shortage of preschool teachers.

Lam Dong Department of Education and Training has just reported on the staffing of teachers at all levels for the 2025-2026 school year and the needs for the 2030-2031 school year.

According to the report, in the 2025-2026 school year, the whole province needs 42,892 teachers. However, the current number of teachers is 37,459, a shortage of 5,433 teachers. Notably, while many specific subjects under the 2018 General Education Program such as Music, Fine Arts, Local Education, Experiential Activities - Career Guidance... are lacking teachers, some other subjects have a local surplus.

To overcome the immediate problem, the Department of Education and Training has instructed educational institutions to contract 3,094 teachers, of which 2,262 are not yet recruited and 832 are under contract according to Decree 111/2022/ND-CP. However, after the additional contract, the whole province still lacks 2,339 teachers at all levels.

Through the review, the education sector proposed to add 4,169 more teacher positions in the 2025-2026 school year and 4,834 more teacher positions in the 2030-2031 school year. Based on the forecast of student population and the need for additional teacher positions in the 2030-2031 school year, the education sector will allocate resources in a priority direction for preschool, primary school and specific subjects that are lacking; at the same time, allocate a reasonable number of junior high school and high school teachers, ensuring the prescribed standards and improving teaching quality. The sector also identified regular and timely training and development to meet the requirements of educational innovation as a key task in the coming period.

Lam Dong Department of Education and Training was established on the basis of merging the status quo of 3 provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong. Currently, the whole sector has 1,605 educational and training institutions (1,462 public, 143 non-public). The total number of managers, teachers and employees is 46,617 people/48,879 positions assigned in 2025. The direct teaching staff alone is 37,459 people, taking on the task of educating more than 806,519 students at all levels in the province.
