Control to prevent birds from colliding with aircraft, threatening aviation safety

Accordingly, in order to limit and prevent incidents of birds colliding with aircraft, which threaten the safety of aircraft operations at airports, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires Van Don International Airport; Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to direct airports to assess the implementation of the bird collision incident index in the safety index of the airport operator, and deploy enhanced solutions to control the bird collision incident index.

Airports shall review records related to the control of birds, wild animals and livestock at airports to report and propose to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam the contents of implementing aviation information notifications regarding bird activities at airports, airfields and surrounding areas.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also requires Vietnamese airlines to continue to fully and promptly report incidents of bird collisions with aircraft to airport operators, the Authority and airport authorities according to regulations.

In addition, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires the Northern, Central and Southern Airports Authorities to direct airport representatives at airports to closely coordinate with airport operators to implement the Program to control and repel birds, wild animals and pets at airports; inspect, monitor and promptly urge and request airport operators to strengthen inspection work, implement measures to control and repel birds, wild animals and pets at airports./.
