In the strong flow of digital transformation, information is flooding social networks; smartphones are present in most households, the grassroots broadcasting system, which used to be the main "bridge" between the Party, the government and the people, is facing challenges. In this situation, the Ba Tri broadcasting industry determined to innovate so as not to be left behind.
The district focuses on innovating technology, operating methods and organizational structure. In 2004, with investment from the Central Government, Ba Tri District Radio Station was officially equipped with a 500W FM broadcasting system. This is an important milestone in improving the quality and range of broadcasting. On June 8, 2004, the Station officially broadcast on FM frequency, meeting the news listening needs of local people.
In addition to technological innovation, the district also reorganized the apparatus in the direction of linking broadcasting with culture - information - communication, streamlined and effective. In the trend of streamlining the organization, in 2019, the Radio Station was merged into the Cultural - Sports Center, becoming the Broadcasting Group under the Cultural - Sports and Broadcasting Center of Ba Tri district.
By February 2025, in the context of digital transformation, the Broadcasting Team had consulted and received permission from the District Party Committee and People's Committee to stop broadcasting FM to switch to broadcasting digital radio signals on the Internet platform. At the same time, deploy a modern relay model for communes and towns. This is a breakthrough, demonstrating the strong adaptation and growth of the broadcasting industry in the new era.
Having worked for 18 years at Ba Tri District Radio Station, reporter Tra Dung shared: “To adapt to digital transformation, during my work, I make the most of technology to meet the need for accurate, timely, and quality information. From there, I contribute to orienting and creating consensus in public opinion, strengthening people's trust in the leadership of the Party and State.”
Mai Thi Thu Van, a cultural officer of An Hoa Tay commune, shared: “Before, I only wrote the news and read it over the loudspeaker. Now I have learned how to make videos , cut audio, and add music. People no longer find the news boring when listening to it.”
Initial innovation efforts have shown positive results. With the smart broadcasting format, people can easily listen to the news via phone applications, Zalo or broadcast on loudspeakers near their homes. Local news is updated quickly, vividly, and meets the needs of listeners. News about epidemic prevention, vaccination, security and order, new rural construction, etc. are positively received by people. Ms. Nguyen Thi Buoc - a resident of An Phu Trung commune said: "Now, whenever the commune posts news on Zalo, I watch it on my phone. The loudspeaker at the beginning of the hamlet broadcasts concise, easy-to-understand news. So, wherever I am, I can keep up with the news of my commune."
The leaders of Ba Tri district acknowledge the increasingly clear role of radio in the new period. In the age of technology, radio may no longer be the only information channel, but it is still one of the channels that is close to the people, easy to access, low cost and has a wide influence in rural areas. Innovation to survive, to maintain that role is an inevitable path. Ba Tri Radio is making efforts to take each step on that path, with a proactive mindset, not wanting to be left behind. Most importantly, it is to preserve the voice of the homeland, the flow of information and the hearts of the people in the digital age.
