Inauguration of Amkor Technology Vietnam Factory

On October 11, at Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park, Amkor Group held the inauguration ceremony of Amkor Technology Vietnam Factory. National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue sent a congratulatory flower basket. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang attended and pressed the button to inaugurate the factory.

Amkor Corporation is a semiconductor business startup in Korea and the US founded in 1968. Amkor is a global leader in technology and engineering, know-how in the OSAT industry - semiconductor packaging and testing with thousands of diverse semiconductor products for trusted customers and partners worldwide.

After a period of researching investment locations, in November 2021, Amkor Group decided to invest in a factory for manufacturing, assembling and testing semiconductor materials and equipment in Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park, Bac Ninh Province, with a total area of 23 hectares, with the legal entity being Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. The total registered investment capital in phase I is about 530 million USD, committed to investing 1.6 billion USD by 2035. After nearly two years of construction, the factory has officially started production and business operations.

Ms. Susan Y. Kim, Vice President of Amkor Technology Group, thanked the Vietnamese Government and Bac Ninh Province for their attention, support, and facilitation so that the Amkor Factory in Bac Ninh could be completed on schedule. At the same time, she affirmed that the development of the Amkor Factory in Bac Ninh is part of the Group's strategic business plan. Believing that with a synchronous and modern industrial park infrastructure and a high-quality workforce, Amkor Bac Ninh will become an important base, a pillar in the Amkor Group's global network of operations and sustainable development in the semiconductor sector in the coming time, and facilitate the formation and development of a semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam.

The Vice President of Amkor Group also hopes that the Vietnamese Government, Bac Ninh Province and relevant organizations and units will continue to pay attention, create favorable conditions, and actively cooperate to help Amkor Factory in Bac Ninh develop, create more jobs for workers and contribute to the overall growth of the locality.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan congratulated the efforts and achievements of the collective leadership and employees of Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the inauguration and operation of the company's semiconductor material and equipment manufacturing, assembly and testing factory is an important milestone for Bac Ninh province to officially appear on the world map of semiconductor component manufacturing. This is also a new driving force in the development of high-tech industry in Bac Ninh province in the following years; thereby, creating effects and spreading to attract large investors in the world.

At the same time, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan suggested that, immediately after the inauguration ceremony, the company quickly resume production and business activities, strictly comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law, build corporate culture, actively care for the lives of workers, and accompany the development process of the locality. The company continues to research and deploy investment in the construction of phases II and III of the factory, creating conditions for businesses in Bac Ninh province as well as Vietnam to explore investment cooperation opportunities, participate in the global semiconductor chip production chain, making Bac Ninh one of the new semiconductor chip production bases in the world.
