On the morning of August 22, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition "80 years of Vietnamese Diplomacy: Honor and pride".

Attending the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and departments and units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The exhibition is part of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs (1975-2025).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said: The photo exhibition displays 80 photos, of which 60 photos record milestones and typical achievements of the diplomatic sector and 20 photos introduce outstanding foreign affairs activities of Ho Chi Minh City.

Held at Lam Son Park - the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, the exhibition has special significance, helping a large number of people and tourists to access and learn more about the role, contributions and values ​​of foreign affairs.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized: Over the past 80 years, under the wise leadership of the Party and State, the diplomatic sector has accompanied the nation through every historical period, making important contributions to the cause of gaining independence, overcoming the consequences of war, and building and developing the country.

Realizing the importance of foreign affairs, Ho Chi Minh City has always been a pioneer and dynamic locality in expanding international cooperation, thereby contributing to promoting economic, cultural, scientific - technological, educational and health cooperation; attracting resources for development; and at the same time promoting the image of a modern, open and deeply integrated urban area with the region and the world.

To date, Ho Chi Minh City has established friendly and cooperative relations with 59 international localities, actively participated in many multilateral organizations and forums, affirming the city's role and reputation as a reliable partner, an attractive destination for international friends and investors, said the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee expressed his sincere thanks for the coordination and support that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given to the City in the past time.

On the same morning, the delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son offered flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument on Nguyen Hue Street.

Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister were Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and departments and units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives of departments, branches and sectors of Ho Chi Minh City.

The delegation respectfully offered flowers and observed a minute of silence, expressing deep gratitude and commemorating the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh - National Liberation Hero, genius leader of our Party and people, outstanding cultural figure of Vietnam.

In particular, for the diplomatic sector, beloved President Ho Chi Minh is the great teacher of modern Vietnamese diplomacy.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, the important and historic achievements of Vietnamese diplomacy in general and the achievements of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs over the past 50 years in particular are not outside the guiding light of Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic ideology.
