According to reputable leaked sources, Apple is testing reverse wireless charging for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models, with an expected capacity of 7.5W.

If enabled, this feature will allow users to charge accessories such as AirPods and Apple Watch directly from the iPhone, turning the phone into a versatile mobile charging station.

Information from reputable sources on Weibo such as Fixed Focus Digital and Instant Digital said that Apple is actively testing the wireless reverse charging feature for iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.

While testing is ongoing, there is no official confirmation yet on whether the feature will be enabled when the product launches next month.

The rumored reverse wireless charging technology will reach 7.5W, enough to power essential accessories like AirPods, Apple Watch, or even a future next-generation MagSafe battery.

This isn't the first time reverse charging has been mentioned on an iPhone. The feature made a limited appearance in 2021 with the MagSafe battery pack designed specifically for the iPhone 12, allowing the iPhone to charge the battery while it was plugged in.

However, with the launch of the iPhone 15 series and the switch to USB-C, this MagSafe battery pack has been discontinued. Instead, users can use wired reverse charging for small devices like the Apple Watch or AirPods at 4.5W via the USB-C port.

The introduction of reverse wireless charging on the iPhone 17 Pro would be a significant step forward, fulfilling users' expectations for a multi-function phone. Meanwhile, the launch of a new version of MagSafe battery with USB-C port, as predicted by technology analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman, is still a mystery.

Change the antenna structure to optimize performance

In addition to the reverse charging feature, Majinbu, a reputable technology source, also revealed that Apple may make a major structural change on the iPhone 17 Pro: repositioning the antenna around the rear camera cluster.

The move is aimed at optimizing connectivity performance and improving the overall design of the device.

This new design is said to be inspired by the approach adopted on the Apple Watch Ultra, where the antennas are cleverly integrated to maximize signal reception and stability.

Current iPhone models place the antennas along the edges of the chassis, with noticeable gaps. With the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple aims to reduce interference from chassis materials and enhance 5G and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

The antenna arrangement around the camera cluster is expected to take advantage of less obstructed and interference-prone areas, helping to improve performance in crowded environments and ensure stable connections even when users are on the move.

All of the above information is still just rumors. All details will be revealed at Apple's iPhone 17 launch event, scheduled to take place in mid-September.
