In the era of explosive connectivity - where the Internet becomes the lifeblood of the digital economy , the new generation Internet protocol and address IPv6, the DNS domain name system are essential technological solutions to meet the increasing demand for connectivity, towards a modern Internet infrastructure, connecting all things, ready for the breakthrough era with the industrial Internet.
Opening up a bigger, faster, safer, and flatter Internet
Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang, Director of VNNIC shared that IPv6 conversion is an inevitable trend because IPv6 creates an almost unlimited address space and creates opportunities for all things to connect, called the Internet of Things. When switching to the Internet of Things environment, all things have addresses and identifiers on the network space connecting to each other. Currently, Vietnam is in the top 10 countries with the highest IPv6 conversion rate in the world (65.5%).
According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang, in order to prepare for the plan to completely switch to the new generation IPv6 address, VNNIC has drafted a roadmap, planning to accelerate the IPv6 conversion in the coming time on the entire Vietnamese Internet network (access network, core network system, content, industrial systems, etc.), aiming for the goal of 100% of the network using IPv6 by 2032, officially stopping the use of IPv4. This is a breakthrough roadmap, similar to major countries in the world such as China, Czech Republic, India, Malaysia, requiring a lot of preparation and effort from the entire Vietnamese Internet community.
Since the end of 2024, VNNIC has been testing the official deployment of IPv6 Only for the Center's Internet access network system; summarizing experiences, building content and training programs that are highly general and applicable to all access networks.
Detailed and practical lectures, the IPv6 Only model built by VNNIC can be replicated to all businesses and government agencies, along with practical experiences shared from VNNIC's implementation process; thereby supporting agencies and businesses to deploy the conversion of the entire network system to IPv6, together towards the goal of building a new generation Internet connecting all things, bigger, faster, safer and flatter - where digital values, innovation and creativity can develop more strongly than ever.
Enhance the adaptability of DNS domain name system to new technology
Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Deputy Director of VNNIC, said that through the process of monitoring and managing the operations of DNS domain name systems in Vietnam, VNNIC recognizes the importance of building training and guidance programs for agencies, organizations and businesses in deploying, optimizing and ensuring the quality and safety of the DNS system.
Sharing about DNS within the framework of VNNIC Internet Conference 2025 from Mr. Bill Woodcock, General Secretary of Packet Clearing House Company and the main lecturers are DNS experts and experienced senior system administrators at VNNIC, equipping necessary knowledge and skills for officers and technical experts to develop a secure, sustainable DNS system, complying with international standards, ready to convert to IPv6, using IPv6 Only.
The lectures cover basic contents such as overview and current status, basic theory of DNS system, to practical lessons on optimal implementation of technical solutions to ensure safety and quality of the entire DNS system, and practice of IPv6 conversion for DNS.
