Telecommunications businesses signed a commitment to implement targets on digital infrastructure development according to Resolution 57 of the Politburo.

Technology solutions associated with urban landscape

To date, the city has 1,521 BTS stations serving the wireless connection needs. This system meets the increasing connection needs of people and businesses, actively supporting the economic , educational, medical, tourism and many other fields. However, most of the existing BTS stations have a bulky design, affecting the urban aesthetics, not taking advantage of the shared infrastructure model, causing waste and creating additional environmental burden.

Faced with this reality, Hue City directed the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN), departments and telecommunications enterprises to research and deploy integrated, environmentally friendly BTS stations. Up to now, Mobifone , Viettel, VNPT have installed about 50 BTS stations concentrated in many key areas such as the Imperial City, the central area, and the tourist route along the Perfume River.

These stations are delicately designed, applying new technology, creatively camouflaged as street lamp posts, in harmony with the urban landscape and relic areas, parks, integrated with surveillance camera systems, free wifi systems, urban lighting. In particular, on Le Loi Street, the first model route, 16 environmentally friendly integrated BTS stations have been installed. 100% of BTS stations on this route are synchronously designed as lamp posts in harmony with the urban architecture.

Many BTS stations are delicately designed, applying new technology, creatively camouflaged as street lamp posts, blending in with the urban landscape.

Evaluating this model, a representative of Mobifone Central in Hue, the unit that has deployed 23 BTS stations on Le Loi Street and the Imperial City area, shared that the unit is committed to investing in BTS stations in an integrated, minimalist, environmentally friendly and harmonious manner with urban heritage. Close coordination with local authorities helps the implementation process go smoothly, on schedule and much more effectively.

Not only ensuring the technical requirements for 4G and 5G coverage, these new stations are also symbolic of smart digital infrastructure transformation. In particular, in a space rich in cultural elements like Hue, the combination of modern technology and heritage elements is an important condition to ensure sustainable development and preserve identity. This is also a model of practical significance to implement the tasks assigned in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in scientific development, innovation and digital transformation. The deployment of integrated BTS stations not only serves the connection infrastructure, but also contributes to honoring the beauty of Hue's heritage, creating high social consensus on the orientation of sustainable development.

Replicating the model, modernizing green infrastructure

According to the city's orientation, Le Loi route will be a model to continue to replicate on main roads, central areas, relic and tourist areas such as Phu Xuan, Vy Da, Kim Long, An Cuu and the remaining communes and wards. The city aims to install 250 to 300 more integrated BTS stations in the coming time, aiming to complete 100% 5G coverage in the entire area.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, member of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee noted that telecommunications enterprises need to comply with urban development planning, prioritize optimizing shared infrastructure, using integrated antenna equipment, sharing technical infrastructure, while ensuring aesthetics, avoiding negative impacts on the environment and urban landscape.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh also requested that agencies and departments, especially the Department of Science and Technology, shorten the time for processing licensing procedures, prioritize projects to deploy environmentally friendly integrated BTS stations; and strictly handle cases of construction that violate planning, and do not meet aesthetic and technical standards.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, the industry is promoting the development of a three-party coordination mechanism between the State - enterprises - community to effectively implement the integrated BTS station model. Digitizing procedures and developing technical criteria associated with heritage conservation is also a way to encourage businesses to participate in long-term investment.

Integrated BTS stations not only improve the quality of telecommunications infrastructure but also support smart urban management, support IoT systems, monitor security, tourist flow, traffic coordination, etc. The Science and Technology sector and local authorities are committed to working with telecommunications enterprises to deploy integrated BTS stations in an effective, synchronous and sustainable manner. This is also a direction to affirm the position of Hue city as a smart, green, clean and beautiful city.
