Close cooperation for sustainable development of Vietnam - US relations

Vietnam wishes to cooperate closely with the US government in the coming time to continue to develop the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a strong, comprehensive, stable and long-term manner.

On the afternoon of October 31, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , answering reporters' questions about the impact of the US presidential election on Vietnam-US bilateral relations, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet said:

After nearly 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States, the relationship between the two countries has had very strong, profound, substantive and effective developments, including the two countries upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023.

Currently, the two countries are working very closely to effectively implement the major cooperation directions for the next 10 years and beyond, as set out in the Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam-US relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace, Cooperation and Sustainable Development.

Vietnam wishes to cooperate closely with the US administration in the coming time to continue to develop the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a strong, comprehensive, and stable manner for the long-term interests and aspirations of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and development of the region and the world.

* Also at the press conference, answering reporters' questions about the relationship between Vietnam and the BRICS group, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet said: As an active and responsible member of the international community, Vietnam has been and will actively and responsibly contribute to multilateral mechanisms and forums, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world, in accordance with Vietnam's needs and interests.

Vietnam will study information on the BRICS Partner Country Status and Vietnam's participation in multilateral and regional cooperation mechanisms, international cooperation is always studied and considered on the basis of suitability with Vietnam's interests, conditions and capabilities. At the same time, this also demonstrates a consistent policy, an independent, self-reliant foreign policy, multilateralization, diversification of international relations; being a friend, a reliable partner and a responsible member of the international community.
