National online conference "Developing Vietnam tourism quickly and sustainably"

On November 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the National Online Conference “Developing Vietnam’s tourism rapidly and sustainably”. Also attending was Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha. At the provincial bridge, there were comrade Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and leaders of relevant departments, agencies and branches.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the close direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the coordination of ministries, branches and the efforts of the whole industry, tourism activities have gradually recovered, especially domestic tourism. In particular, tourism activities and events have taken place vibrantly in localities, and the awareness of the whole society about the spillover effects of the tourism industry has changed positively. Many new destinations have been invested in, the system of technical facilities and infrastructure serving tourism has been improved... In the first 10 months of 2023, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached more than 9.97 million; domestic visitors reached 98.7 million; total revenue from tourism reached 582.6 trillion VND. However, the recovery rate of international visitors is still low. In that context, the tourism industry sets a target of adjusting the total number of international tourists to Vietnam to 12-13 million in 2023; 102 million domestic tourists, total revenue from tourists of about 650 trillion VND. By 2025, the tourism industry will fully recover to pre-pandemic levels, striving to welcome 18 million international visitors; 130 million domestic visitors, directly contributing 6-8% to GDP. By 2030, tourism will be a key economic sector, developing towards green growth, welcoming 35 million international visitors; 160 million domestic visitors, directly contributing 10-13% to GDP.

Comrade Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of relevant departments, branches and sectors attended the national online conference.

With the above goal, at the conference, representatives of ministries, sectors, localities, and tourism enterprises discussed issues on: Difficulties, obstacles, solutions and suggestions to attract visitors, develop Vietnam tourism quickly and sustainably; strengthen regional and sectoral linkages in cooperation in product development and tourism promotion...

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the enthusiastic and responsible opinions of the delegates. At the same time, the Prime Minister emphasized a number of viewpoints on tourism development in the coming time. In particular, it is necessary to further raise awareness of the position, role, importance, value, efficiency and spread of the tourism industry to promote the proactive, positive and responsible spirit of relevant entities. Develop a comprehensive, fast, sustainable and highly effective tourism ecosystem. Build a unique Vietnamese tourism brand based on human resources, nature and historical and cultural traditions. Closely connect and effectively coordinate between businesses, relevant entities, between ministries, branches and localities. Build a national and global value chain. Have appropriate thinking and approaches, in the direction of open policies, smooth infrastructure, smart management, digital transformation and green transformation. Promote decentralization and delegation of power along with resource allocation and strengthen inspection and supervision; cut down and simplify administrative procedures and business regulations, creating the most favorable conditions for people and businesses to participate in the input supply chain of the tourism industry...
