On September 8, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung affirmed that large investments will develop the Artificial Intelligence (AI) industry into Korea's next-generation growth engine.
Speaking at the launch of the National AI Strategy Committee, President Lee Jae Myung announced the goal of making South Korea one of the world's top three AI powers.
He said South Korea is at a historic turning point in deciding whether to accept the risk of being left behind or become a pioneer with endless opportunities. He stressed that the vision of becoming one of the world's top three AI powers will determine South Korea's future.
President Lee Jae-myung warned that falling behind would mean dependence on technology, industrial decline and deepening inequality, and called on South Korean agencies, businesses and citizens to take bold action to accelerate the AI transition.
Also at the launch ceremony of the National AI Strategy Committee, President Lee Jae Myung outlined four strategies to boost Korea's AI industry including realizing inclusive, human-centered AI that is easily accessible and usable by everyone, and pledging strategic government investment to support the private sector and enhance global competitiveness.
He stressed the need to reform administrative, health care and education systems to make society AI-friendly.
He also affirmed the importance of promoting AI-related industries, building infrastructure and nurturing talent in a way that ensures balanced growth in the region./.
