(Chinhphu.vn) - Moc Bai Customs force coordinated with inter-sectoral agencies to discover and arrest a subject transporting nearly 2kg of drugs cleverly hidden in entry luggage. The case is under further investigation.

Customs coordinated to discover nearly 2kg of drugs hidden in a backpack at Moc Bai international border gate

The Customs Department ( Ministry of Finance ) said: Implementing the peak of the fight against drugs in 2025 with the theme "One determination - For a drug-free community" under the direction of the Government, the functional forces at Moc Bai international border gate (Tay Ninh) promptly detected and arrested a case of illegal transportation of a large quantity of drugs.

At 6:40 p.m. on June 6, 2025, at the entry lane of Moc Bai International Border Gate Joint Station, Thuan Tay Hamlet, Loi Thuan Commune, Ben Cau District, the Customs force of the Regional Customs Branch XVI discovered suspicious signs when checking the luggage image of an inbound passenger.

Through screening, using sniffer dogs and other professional measures, the unit coordinated with the Moc Bai International Border Guard Station, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Tay Ninh Provincial Police and related units to inspect the backpack of Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang (residing in Da Phuoc Commune, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).

Test results showed that the white-gray backpack contained two nylon bags containing a white solid, white powder, and blue tablets. The subject confessed that these were synthetic drugs.

Immediately afterwards, the evidence samples were quickly tested and tested positive for MDMA and Katemin, with a total weight of approximately 1.93kg.

Currently, all exhibits, case files and violators have been handed over to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Tay Ninh Provincial Police to continue expanding the investigation and handling in accordance with legal regulations.

This is one of the specific cases demonstrating the initial results of the 2025 Drug Prevention and Control Action Month and the efforts of the Customs force in strengthening border control and fighting against illegal drug transportation through international border gates.
