The event discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the design, operation and optimization of infrastructure to leverage the AI wave in building a flexible, smart and sustainable future.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Dong Mai Lam, General Director of Schneider Electric Vietnam and Cambodia emphasized: “AI is no longer a technology of the future, but is present in all fields, becoming a strong catalyst for the digitalization process and sustainable growth. To catch up with the AI wave, we need a revolution in the construction and operation of data centers, the design and construction of smart buildings, and smart grids. This is the reason why we chose the theme for Innovation Day Hanoi 2025 as 'Digital infrastructure ready for AI - Vietnam's new growth driver'”.

Three pillars of digital infrastructure for the AI era

AI is becoming an indispensable part of all technologies. That wave is spreading strongly to Vietnam and other countries in the region, opening up unprecedented opportunities. Across ASEAN, AI is expected to contribute an additional 10-18% to total GDP growth, equivalent to about 1,000 billion USD by 2030.

However, the AI boom has come with skyrocketing energy consumption. According to the IEA, AI is expected to account for 15–20% of total data center electricity consumption by 2028, up from 8% in 2023. The data processing paradigm is shifting from centralized to distributed, with about 50% of AI tasks expected to be handled in a hybrid model, meaning a combination of data center and edge processing.

All of this leads to the need to redesign technology infrastructure to be AI-ready, from data centers to building operations and power grids. Specifically, AI-ready data center infrastructure: AI tasks are growing exponentially, requiring more powerful infrastructure than ever to accommodate extremely high computing density. Schneider Electric introduces advanced technology solutions for data centers such as direct-to-chip liquid cooling, high-density racks, high-capacity three-phase UPS systems, etc. to meet the needs of optimizing performance and increasing resilience to unusual incidents.

AI applications in smart buildings: Schneider Electric's energy management solutions help customers reduce up to 45% of their building's carbon footprint, helping to shift from a traditional electricity consumption model to an integrated energy supply and demand model where buildings both consume electricity and produce electricity from renewable energy sources.

Applying AI to smart grids: Thanks to the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI), power companies can monitor the entire power grid in real time right at the control center. Software such as EcoStruxure ADMS and AVEVA Unified Operations Center helps monitor voltage, current, on/off points and detect abnormalities early. The system can automatically adjust power distribution based on load demand and supply, ensuring the grid always operates stably and efficiently. In addition, platforms such as EcoStruxure DERMS and Microgrid Advisor support the connection of distributed energy sources such as solar power and storage, helping to balance supply and demand and optimize operating costs.

With a portfolio of E2E (end-to-end) infrastructure solutions that integrate both hardware and software, Schneider Electric acts as a comprehensive partner to help organizations and businesses deploy AI data centers anywhere, at any scale, promoting digitalization, improving energy efficiency, and moving towards sustainable development.

Innovation Hub - A space to experience AI technology solutions shaping the future of sustainable digital transformation

Within the framework of Innovation Day Hanoi 2025, Schneider Electric introduces Innovation Hub, a comprehensive experience space, where advanced technology solutions converge to accompany Vietnam in building a sustainable and AI-ready future. With four main exhibition areas, Innovation Hub provides a panoramic view of how Schneider Electric applies AI and digital transformation to promote green growth:

AI-Ready Data Center: Includes scalable, sustainable, high-density infrastructure solutions, typically modular data centers. Some of the equipment on display are Galaxy VXL, Galaxy VS, Easy UPS, MV/LV switchgear; Motivair liquid cooling solutions and EcoStruxure for Data Centers platform.

Smart Building: Includes AI-based solutions to optimize energy use in buildings, increase comfort, and contribute to the goal of combating climate change. These include AVEVA's Unified Operations Center, AI-based HVAC control systems, EcoStruxure Building Operation platforms, ETAP, etc.

Green energy and flexible grid: Including AI solutions supporting renewable energy management, grid stability and energy efficiency such as EcoStruxure Grid & DERMS, Microgrid Advisor. Medium voltage switchgears such as RM AirSet, MCSeT integrated with EvoPacT do not use SF6 gas.

Impact Maker: This area showcases Schneider Electric’s role as a global leader in sustainable development and impact investing. Solutions showcased include: EcoStruxure™ Resource Advisor for real-time energy and carbon emissions monitoring; Scope 1-3 decarbonization solutions …

According to forecasts, the AI market in Vietnam will grow by an average of 15.8% per year, reaching a scale of 1.52 billion USD by 2030, and could even contribute up to 130 billion USD to the Vietnamese economy by 2040. Although opening up unprecedented opportunities, the AI boom also comes with major challenges in terms of energy and infrastructure capacity.

With experience in developing infrastructure for large-scale AI projects globally, Schneider Electric has proven its ability to solve complex challenges, allowing AI to maximize its power without compromising sustainable development goals. In the future, Schneider Electric is ready to provide solutions and services, accompanying Vietnam to firmly enter the AI era.

Schneider Electric's purpose is to make a positive impact and be a bridge for progress and sustainable development by empowering everyone to be more efficient with their energy and resources. At Schneider, we call it Life Is On.
