This year, Hanoi has more than 103,000 students competing for 81,000 public school places, with an admission rate of 78.6%.

Compared to 127,000 9th grade students in the 2024-2025 school year in Hanoi, the rate of students entering public 10th grade after junior high school is about 64%.

This number increases by about 3% compared to 2024, corresponding to about 1,500 more scholarships.

The number of candidates in Hanoi this year is 1.3 times that of Ho Chi Minh City, nearly 7 times that of Quang Ninh, nearly 4 times that of Hai Phong and nearly 26 times that of Bac Kan .

Immediately after the scores are available, from July 7 to July 9, schools will return the application documents and admission exam results for grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year to students.

Before July 10, schools will receive student appeals, submit appeals and lists of students for appeals.

From July 10 to July 12, high schools, vocationaleducation - continuing education centers, and vocational education institutions organize admission confirmation.

On July 17, the Department of Education and Training and specialized high schools and public high schools will meet to approve additional benchmark scores for public grade 10 (if any).

From July 19 to July 22, schools will organize admission confirmation and receive additional admission applications (if any).

Hanoi's 10th grade admission score in 2025 is the total score of three subjects on a 10-point scale, without coefficient, plus priority points and incentive points if any.

Specifically, the scoring principle is as follows: Admission score = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + Priority score (if any) + Encouragement score (if any).

Regarding priority points, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training stipulates adding 1-2 points, depending on the subject. Students will only receive the highest priority points if multiple criteria apply.

In addition to priority points for policy beneficiaries, candidates will also receive additional incentive points if they win provincial-level prizes organized by the Department of Education and Training or in coordination with departments and branches organized on a provincial scale for national-scale competitions on culture, arts, sports; and scientific and technical research competitions. The incentive points will be added from 0.5 to 1.5 points.

Regarding the admission principle, candidates who wish to register for admission to the school will be selected according to their admission scores from highest to lowest until the quota is full.

Candidates who are admitted to their first choice will not be considered for the following choices. The admission scores for choices 2 and 3 must be 1 and 2 points higher than their first choice.

When the admission score is lowered, public high schools are allowed to admit students with 2nd and 3rd wishes who meet the admission requirements.
