VHO - On May 22, Mr. Lazare Eloundou, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center, visited and surveyed the management, conservation and promotion of world cultural heritage values in Hue.
Also participating in the survey and working trip were Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Director General, Secretary General of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO; representatives of the UNESCO Office in Hanoi .
The delegation visited and surveyed relics in the Hue Royal Palace heritage site, such as Ngu Phung - Ngo Mon, Thai Hoa Palace, Kien Trung Palace, The Mieu...; Hue Royal Antiquities Museum; and An Dinh Palace relic.
Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, shared information about the conservation work of Hue heritage in recent times, from "rescuing" relics to preserving and disseminating intangible cultural heritage and documentary heritage.
In particular, the application of technology and digital transformation in preserving and promoting heritage values at Hue heritage sites has achieved many important results, aiming at sustainable development.
To date, nearly 200 works and construction items belonging to the Hue Monuments Complex have been preserved and restored with a total cost of more than 2,000 billion VND.
This work always strictly complies with the provisions of the 1972 Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, UNESCO guidelines and the Law on Cultural Heritage of Vietnam.
Hue has received support from 15 governments, non-governmental organizations and more than 10 international consulting organizations in heritage conservation. More than 60 international cooperation programs and projects have been effectively implemented, contributing to improving heritage management capacity and expanding Hue's international influence in the field of heritage conservation.
Visiting the An Dinh Palace relic, the Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center and the delegation were provided with information about the process of interior restoration and conservation of items at this relic by Ms. Andrea Teufel - a German cultural heritage conservation expert.
According to the leader of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, the unit is researching and preparing a project registration file for the "Overall Restoration of An Dinh Palace" to submit to the French Ministry of Culture and UNESCO for consideration and approval of funding.
The project will contribute to improving the efficiency of exploitation to serve tourists, the community, research and education activities, and at the same time add highlights to cultural and artistic events in Hue Festival and international exchange programs.
