World gold price today is up to 3,448 USD/ounce
As of early August 30 (Vietnam time), the international gold price today closed the weekend at 3,448 USD/ounce, up 48 USD compared to the lowest level in last night's trading session (3,400 USD/ounce). Meanwhile, the price of gold futures for December delivery reached 3,511 USD/ounce, up 38 USD compared to the previous session.
The gold price breakout today was supported by technical buying pressure in the market, as investors took advantage of the uptrend to participate. In addition, the US stock market was in the red. The Dow Jones indexes fell 92 points, the S&P 500 fell 41 points and the Nasdaq fell 249 points. Investors sold stocks and shifted capital into gold as a safe haven. Gold prices naturally increased sharply today.
In addition, gold prices today are also supported by expectations about the monetary policy of the US Federal Reserve (Fed). Investors are closely monitoring US economic data and the possibility of the Fed adjusting interest rates at its September meeting. If the Fed signals easing policy, gold prices may continue to be strengthened due to the weakening USD.
In Vietnam, at the end of August 29, SJC gold was sold at 129.3 million VND/tael, while ring gold was sold at 123.5 million VND/tael.
