Since its establishment, Hong Duc University has focused on innovating training content and programs to ensure connectivity, modernity, and adherence to the realities and requirements of labor recruitment units. Along with that, the school has promoted the diversification of majors and training forms to meet social needs. In the past 5 years, under the leadership of the school's Party Committee, Hong Duc University has autonomously opened 3 new doctoral majors: business administration, educational management, computer science; 2 master's training majors: economic management, finance - banking; 15 university training majors; and was permitted by the Ministry of Education and Training to open 3 university training majors: natural science pedagogy, information technology, history - geography. This result contributes to increasing the total number of doctoral majors trained at the school to 7 majors; for master's majors, it is 21 majors; 40 university majors and 1 college major, stable training scale of about 12,000 students. Training forms include: full-time, part-time, 2nd major, joint training, direct, online, direct combined with online.
Along with the diversification of majors and training forms, in recent years, the uploading of lectures to the LMS learning management software system has been strongly implemented by training departments throughout the school, helping to connect learners, lecturers and convey training content flexibly and effectively. In addition, the areas for internships, practice, vocational training, and support for students have also been expanded at schools and more than 500 non-pedagogical practice facilities. According to statistics, in the past 5 years, Hong Duc University has trained 15,253 graduates; including 11 PhDs, 1,703 masters, 13,054 university graduates and 485 college graduates. From the close direction of the Party Committee, the efforts of each cadre, lecturer, trainee, and student, the training quality has been continuously improved through each school year with the rate of students achieving good or better academic performance increasing from 64.14% (school year 2019-2020) to 79.49% (school year 2023-2024). The rate of students having jobs after 1 year of graduation is over 90%. Through surveys and assessments, graduates ensure basic requirements in knowledge, professional skills, and have the ability to adapt to careers and social practices.
According to the leaders of Hong Duc University, in order to improve the quality of human resources to meet the requirements of industrialization and modernization of the country, the school always links training with scientific research activities. This task is not only focused on the staff but also emphasized and promoted among students. From 2020 to present, the school has 48 newly approved national, ministerial and provincial scientific topics, including 9 national topics. The quality of research, application and transfer of science and technology is constantly improved; intellectual property activities have achieved many positive results, some outstanding results include 1 plant variety protection certificate (QT55 corn variety), 1 industrial design exclusive certificate (multi-function hospital bed), 1 software copyright (Smart Home), 5 useful solution registration processes and 5 products winning the Vietnam Science and Technology Award. Along with that, the whole school published 1,648 scientific articles, of which 345 (20.9%) were in prestigious international journals (WoS, Scopus), reaching an average of 0.9 articles/lecturer/year.
During the same period, students of the school have carried out more than 500 scientific research topics in various fields and faculties. The topics focus on research on innovation in teaching and learning methods in schools; studying, researching, applying new knowledge, new and modern methods to teaching and learning activities; assessing the current situation of schools and proposing solutions. The effects of scientific research activities have created a vibrant competitive atmosphere in learning and research, gradually training students in the correct learning and scientific research methods. In particular, this activity has created in students the awareness of "deep research, thorough understanding", establishing independent and creative thinking, helping students to have a scientific mindset when graduating to properly solve problems arising from practice.
Assessment of scientific topics carried out by the school's staff and students in recent years shows that scientific research activities have directly contributed to improving the quality of the staff and the quality of human resource training at the school; providing scientific evidence for the development of policies and programs for local socio -economic development, thereby affirming the position and brand of the school in the domestic and international science and technology community. The school has been recognized as meeting the second cycle of university education quality accreditation standards (2022), 100% of training programs have conducted self-assessment and updated data. In 2020, Hong Duc University ranked 30/100; in 2023, it ranked 38/184 of the best universities in Vietnam based on Webometrics ranking criteria. This is the important basis and foundation for the school to continue implementing solutions to promote the full capacity of each staff member and student in teaching, learning and scientific research, building the school to continuously grow in the trend of integration and development.
