Facebook brings back old feature from 2007

Facebook’s Friends tab offers the ability to filter out unnecessary suggestions that appear in the main feed. In an official blog post, Meta said the company developed the Friends tab to meet the changing times and people’s needs to create the best experiences for groups, videos , Facebook Marketplace, and more.

The new Friends tab will display all your friend-related information in one place.

This is essentially an admission that Facebook’s focus on algorithms and non-friend content has overshadowed the platform’s original purpose, which was to connect with people, The Verge reports. Previously, the Friends tab contained friend requests and suggested lists of people to know, but the new Friends tab only includes posts from friends.

Will Facebook be more like the old days?

This may be a small but important change that will help people avoid the ads and random group posts that flood their main feed. Now users will see content shared by their friends without being affected by the algorithms that determine who sees what.

Users can access this tab from the navigation bar in the Facebook app. They can also pin it to the navigation bar by selecting the three-bar icon and then selecting the settings icon. Next, go to Settings > Tab bar and select the tabs that users want to pin.

Finally, Facebook is said to be adding some native features soon as part of Mark Zuckerberg's plan to make the platform more like what it used to be.
