There are many fields to start a business in, why did you choose to start a business in the AI field?
AI CEO Hay Tran Quang Duc: There are two reasons why we chose to start a business in the AI field. Firstly, we have witnessed big waves, such as the popularization of the Internet, then smartphones. And now AI - a tool that we need to master soon; especially after Resolution 57 of the Politburo was passed, identifying "science, technology, innovation and digital transformation" as the key development pillars of the country.
Second, it is the belief that AI is not only for large corporations or resource-rich language markets, but needs to become a close, practical tool for Vietnamese people. We want to build a pure Vietnamese AI platform, free of charge, to support the simple needs; Such as helping students learn more effectively, tutors teach better, ordinary users and businesses solve daily problems.
AI Hay is developing an application similar to ChatGPT that helps users ask any question and receive accurate results, suitable for Vietnamese culture. Currently, foreign AI applications are still unable to update changes such as administrative boundaries and two-level government in Vietnam. So can AI Hay's solution handle people's questions about content in Vietnam more accurately than foreign applications?
In terms of usage, AI Hay may be similar to ChatGPT, but in essence, these are two different applications. ChatGPT is an AI chatbot, so it will tend to respond based on pre-trained knowledge instead of searching for updated information, so the possibility of information illusion in the answer will be very high: One is the data is not updated; two is the information is not sourced, it is unclear where it is quoted from, and it is very difficult to verify. The best application of ChatGPT is still inclined towards content creation.
On the contrary, AI Hay always prioritizes searching for real-time information on the Internet before giving an answer to ensure accuracy and minimize hallucination.
AI Hay's answers always have a source (like a thesis) so that users can verify it themselves. In addition, AI Hay also operates as a knowledge social network where users can publicly post questions for the community to add information through Recommendation AI, helping the information to be more complete and reliable (similar to the Reddit and Quora models).
Large language models (LLMs) in Vietnam, specifically AI Hay, have the advantage of understanding the cultural context and language usage of Vietnamese people. Therefore, once mastering the technology, AI Hay can quickly update its knowledge and give accurate answers.

This is a very clear example of adaptability to new knowledge and only native models like AI Hay can update, adapt quickly and give good answers.
AI Hay has core map technology, accurately finding the old address coordinates and mapping them to the new administrative map. Therefore, even if the requested address may be located in many new wards after the merger, AI Hay can still process and give the correct answer.
AI Hay has just raised more than 10 million USD. After receiving this investment, what goals will AI Hay set?
The amount of more than 10 million USD that AI Hay has just raised is actually still very modest compared to global AI "giants" - even DeepSeek had to invest billions of USD over many years to achieve today's achievements.
However, instead of an “arms race” in model size or academic benchmarks, AI Hay chooses a more practical and closer path: focusing on solving essential problems in the daily lives of Vietnamese people.
Our immediate goal is to expand our collaboration with partners who own high-quality local data – fromeducation , public administration, law to entertainment – to continuously improve the accuracy, timeliness and cultural relevance of our answers.
At the same time, we will continuously launch new features and products to serve ordinary users, especially students, students, and workers - those who need a reliable AI assistant to study, look up, work or relax every day. We want to help remove language and cost barriers, making AI accessible and useful to everyone, everywhere.
We see AI as a trend, but in reality, businesses in the market are mainly successful located in two powerful countries, China and the US, with products such as ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek... So is AI Or confident in the path it has chosen?
As mentioned, the difference between AI Hay and international products is the understanding of local culture, as well as the habits of Vietnamese users, thus creating an AI product that is not only easy to use, easy to access, but also at a cost of 0 - that is, AI Hay is providing the product for free to users. Along with the enthusiasm and determination of a team of experienced staff, including technology engineers who have built leading platforms in Vietnam, or have experience working and researching in the US and returning to contribute.
A recent example of AI Hay going deep into people's real lives is that after officially merging provinces and cities, AI Hay was able to immediately help users look up new addresses quickly.
Therefore, AI Hay is confident in the path it has chosen, which is to develop an AI product that goes deep into the lives of users, and can solve requirements from learning, research, to searching for common information.
We do not compete for “bigger LLM” but choose a “deeper niche”: solving the immediate Vietnamese language problem – which BigTech considers a “long-tail” market. 100 million people + 11 million overseas Vietnamese is a large enough market to nurture a sustainable platform. When serving the original market well, we believe we can replicate the model in Thailand, Indonesia – where there is also a lack of native AI.
Startup is accepting to face many challenges, even life and death. Has Team AI Or encountered any difficulties? How did you overcome them?
Making Vietnamese AI has many unique difficulties. Data lacks standardization, there is a lot of duplicate or erroneous content, and a lot of good data has not been fully digitized. We choose to persistently build with the community: cooperating with press agencies, publishers, academic institutions, businesses, and even dedicated users to gradually clean up and enrich the Vietnamese knowledge base.
Resources are always a challenge. In the context of a cautious investment market, we are forced to be very frugal: optimizing infrastructure, focusing on core products that serve the needs of Vietnamese people. Thanks to that, although slowly but surely, AI Hay is still developing sustainably.
The most important thing is to maintain the trust of users. Vietnamese people have reason to be afraid when AI answers incorrectly. Therefore, each answer on AI Hay always comes with a source and users can easily verify it if needed.
Challenges remain, but the deeper we delve into Vietnam's problems, the more we believe we are on the right path – a difficult but worthwhile path.
