Meeting new needs
Khanh Hoa PC manages 374km of 110kV lines; 15 110kV transformer stations, 2,988km of medium voltage lines, 5,918 distribution transformer stations and 3,177km of low voltage lines and supplies electricity to more than 442,000 customers. The power grid system stretches from Hoa Hiep 110kV transformer station ( Dak Lak province) to Thap Cham 220kV transformer station. This requires the company to further promote the application of technology in the management and operation of the power system.

Mr. Nguyen Cao Ky - Chairman of the Board of Directors of PC Khanh Hoa said: "The forecast of the province's electricity demand to reach about 4,700 million kWh by 2030 is a clear sign of a strong wave of investment in supporting industries, marine economy , high-end tourism and logistics infrastructure. In particular, the high load in the Cam Ranh peninsula and Van Phong Economic Zone... shows the importance of accelerating the progress of grid investment in these areas. That requires PC Khanh Hoa not only to develop in scale but also to ensure the flexibility and readiness of the power system. Therefore, the company will promote digital transformation, apply information technology and automation in all activities from operation, business to administration, towards building a smart grid. In addition, sustainable development, optimizing operational efficiency, while enhancing social responsibility, contributing to the green development goals of the province and the country".

It is expected that by 2026, Khanh Hoa PC will build and renovate 24.86km of medium voltage lines; 86.93km of low voltage lines, and build 70 new transformer stations with a total capacity increase of 30.25MVA. This number will continue to increase in the following years. All newly invested systems are associated with the application of modern digital technology in operation. When the grid is upgraded, expanded and modernized, it will minimize power loss, shorten the time to handle incidents and improve reliability indicators such as SAIDI (average outage duration) and SAIFI (average number of outages).
Smart grid development
To meet the management and operation requirements in the new conditions, Khanh Hoa PC aims to build a Smart Grid by 2030, focusing on the extensive application of 4.0 technology and automation. Specifically, the company will upgrade and expand the SCADA system (supervisory control and data acquisition system) to remotely monitor and control the 110kV transformer station to intermediate and distribution stations. The goal is that all transformer stations will be unmanned, and operations and troubleshooting will be performed completely automatically or from the control center.
At the same time, Khanh Hoa PC is continuing to deploy the remote metering data collection system (AMI/AMR) for all customers. This not only helps to record electricity indexes more accurately and transparently, but also provides instantaneous data on loads, helping the company manage and forecast electricity demand more effectively. Medium voltage grid automation technology (DAS) is also being promoted, allowing each segment to be automated, isolating incidents and restoring power supply in the shortest time, significantly improving the power supply reliability index. In addition, the unit also applies new technologies such as Big Data and artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze data from the power system. From there, it makes accurate forecasts on loads, detects early risks of incidents, and optimizes maintenance and repair work.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Duc - General Director of PC Khanh Hoa affirmed: "Building a smart grid is one of the most breakthrough orientations of PC Khanh Hoa in the coming period. We understand that Smart Grid is not only a trend but also a key solution to optimize the management and operation of the power system. The birth of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 on 5 breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation and Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025 on private economic development of the Politburo is expected to create a strong lever, clearly shaping the future development direction for PC Khanh Hoa. Accordingly, PC Khanh Hoa will focus on promoting the application of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in the spirit of Resolution No. 57. The top priority is to invest in modernizing the power grid, maximizing the application of technology to develop online electricity services and improving the quality of electricity. enhance customer experience... Thereby, contributing practically to ensuring energy security and sustainable development goals of the country as well as the locality".
